Generally in the Little League you're up against a good pitcher who throws like hell. What does the coach say? Get a walk. Isn't that beautiful way to learn to hit? For four years you stand up there looking for a walk.

I never slept when I lost. I'd see the sun come up without ever having closed my eyes. I'd see those base hits over and over and they would drive me crazy.

My feeling is that when you're managing a baseball team, you have to pick the right people to play and then pray a lot.

When I was with Houston at the end of my career, Bob Gibson walked up to me one day when I was running in the outfield. He asked me why I didn't quit and said what a shame it was that I was ruining a great career and just trying to hang on. Years later, I saw Gibson trying to do the same thing.

The fact that he did bet on it, and what he was accused of he did, didn't contribute much to his possibility of getting voted in.

There has been a lot of progress, but there is still much that needs to be done, and so while you need to celebrate the progress, and the things that are moving forward, you can't lose sight of all the work that needs to be done. I look around and I see that there is less debris, but I see that there is still debris that needs to be cleared.

It never rains on the pass parade. It may rain before. It may rain after, but it never rains on the Pass Parade, but it is a time to for a moment, put aside all that has happened and just celebrate.

I'm just so honored and proud of the people here. They have such spirit. This is better than an Emmy.

I'm speechless. To work for a company like Disney that believes in community and came up with the idea and saying, 'We want to donate to the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast.' Knowing it's very important to many people here, my family included, since we helped start the one in the Pass. And a million and half dollars is gonna go a long way. It's a nice start, great start.
