We knew they were going to bring pressure. Early on it took a little bit of adjustment, but once we made that we were fine.

We dug the hole early and just spent all night trying to play chase. We got it back at times where it was manageable, but we never got over the hump.

It was not necessarily a pretty game. It's a consolation game, but it's one of those games where motivation is kind of hard to find but your playing so you need to compete and motivate yourself. I thought we basically did the things you need to do to win.

Shooting free throws has been a strength of ours all year. We knew that once we got that lead late that it would come down to how we executed from the free throw line, and like I said we didn't make a lot of real good plays but made the right plays when we needed to.

Basically what we needed to make sure we did was come down and settle ourselves down on offense. When we see them running points on us we came down and tried to get those points back, and that's when you need to be patient. I think we settled ourselves down and got some better looks to fend off the little run they made.

I was so proud of our kids to get back to where we were. Fountain Lake got hot from the three early and that forced us to take shots we normally wouldn't.

I'm just proud we got back to where we were. The last time we made it to the state tournament I was the assistant coach. This is my first one and it's the first one for these kids.

We took some shots we typically wouldn't. It snowballed on us and we got in a hole we dug and we never could climb back out of it.

We paid a lot of attention to Newberry and that everything they got offensively they would have to earn late. We wanted to take care of the basketball and be strong with it because we knew they would put us on the line, and that's something we knew we were good at — converting free throws.

Going into most every game we play, that will be one of our primary advantages. We've just got to really make an effort to use that advantage to the best that we can.

Real early in the ball game, I thought we did a real good job of establishing the inside. We'd go through spurts throughout the course of the game where we had a chance to use the big guys.

Going up against [Drew] Babcock and Smith inside, it was kind of a heads-up match between my two biggest and his two. We just wanted to come out and be the aggressor.

We got to the line 20 times, made 17 of them or something like that. That was big for us to put it away late. They started charging at us but we took pretty good care of the ball and, again, executed at the free-throw line.

In this conference on any night, anybody can win. We wanted to jump out early.

We did a good job getting behind their defense. We were getting some easy baskets.
