There are no easy games. We've got a tough game at their place. We have got to improve everything every day. There's nothing special about playing them. They bring a high level of intensity and we have to do the same.

[Stevens] did well; the thing that I like about is that she showed her maturity. She got in and out of trouble, but she was able to execute some pitches late in the game and come out with the win.

At the end of the game, it's about our pitching, and if our pitching does well from this point forward, we're going to have a good season. Our two freshmen [Lindsay Littlejohn and Stacey Nelson] have to make some adjustments. If we do that, then we'll finish strong.

Stacey Nelson and Stacey Stevens have separated themselves from the pack and are getting the ball more consistently now. But I still think we're going to go with the one-two-three punch [with Nelson, Stevens and Littlejohn] and go that way through the whole [Southeastern Conference] season and regular season.

We don't pay attention to anything like that. All we're looking to do is to improve every single day and that's all I can ask for as a coach.

It's awesome, and we really have three, but you don't know it yet. When Brooke Johnson gets on base, she's fast. ...When you have speed, you make the defense do things they don't want to do.

We were struggling. It was easy to see that their pitcher was doing a great job. It looked like we were guessing a little bit. She was throwing strikes, and we're looking for balls. She's throwing balls, and we're looking for strikes.

This team is starting to believe in themselves a little bit.

She's a gutsy kind of performer. I really like her style. She does a lot of things, and if she's not swinging very well, she can drop down a bunt.

I didn't put her in the leadoff spot to hit a home run. I put her in there to get on base so Cameron and [Kristen] Butler can hit her over.

Almost all of Lacy Howard's hits have all been RBI hits. I think she has more RBIs than hits. That's very clutch for us and I am very pleased to get a lift out of her.

[The pitchers] competed well, I think they'd agree with me that we still came up a little bit on the short end on the stick. I was proud of their effort. But in the end, if we only give up one run, we need to win those ballgames.

Our pitchers threw great. They were getting ahead in the count and forced them to chase their pitches a bit. Their hitters are good and [Stevens and freshman Stacey Nelson] did a good job of keeping them off-balance.

[We'll] do the same thing. It doesn't matter who we play; we just got to take care of ourselves and set the tempo with our defense. Find a way to get clutch hits. It's not about how many hits we get but just being timely.

I felt like in order for our team to do what we wanted to do we needed to get a couple games this weekend.
