We know that we're not going to score a lot of runs so we're doing the little things at this point. We're playing defense, we're pitching the ball well and we're just doing good things.

That was one of the best plays I've seen an outfielder make. He took a possible double away from them.

Their kid threw the ball well as well. It was a true early season pitchers' battle.

Jeff Holm did a great job. We really don't know what we're going to get from him (sometimes), but he came in (this game) and just did a fantastic job. With the meat of their order up and getting Nick Herrera, one of the best hitters in the area, to pop out was great. That gave us momentum.

It was kind of nice to see (Jake) get in a little trouble early. He had guys on base, but I wanted to see how he'd respond to that because he hasn't had that happen to him. But he's a bulldog. He goes out there, gives you everything he's got every time and he's a hard guy to take out of the game. I was surprised that I had to go get him, but he was out of gas.

Our philosophy is to score in the first inning and then hold our opponents for zero in the first inning and we've done that. We did that a couple of (games) ago and came out on the short end so I really want us to get up early in the game. That puts the pressure on the opposition and we've done that, but we didn't add on like I was hoping we would.

We need to defend our home field better. We talked about pride and defending our home turf and getting ready for a big week next week. Hopefully this game will be a springboard to next week.

I give a ton of credit to our guys for coming back. We were down early and we could've folded the tents, but we didn't allow that to happen.

We're not afraid to kick a couple of balls around early in games and get ourselves in a hole. We take so much pride in our defense, but for some reason, we're snake-bitten when we play at home.

We had an inning like that a week and a half ago and you just can't do that in high school. You can't do it anywhere really.

(Beck's) one of the toughest guys in the conference. We ran up his pitch count to over 100 and had some opportunities, but our defense let us down.

I just had a funny feeling with the wind blowing in, with the two pitchers on the mound, that that could have been our one and only opportunity. It wasn't our only, but it was one that we should have taken advantage of.
