They are both battling to try to be a player here at this level.

It's very nice to see the improvement in Aaron. We're trying to audition and get productivity and consistency there. Aaron has stepped up and been the more consistent of the two so far.

I remember him being an outstanding high school player. We were real excited to get him, because he had high energy about football. Football was real important to him.

He was a good athlete, and he made up for whatever speed he might have lacked by being a natural football player. He understood the game and knew how to make reads.

I think he's probably 80 percent better than he was last spring and 30 percent better than last fall. But he's still got some finishing touches he's got to put on his game. But that's why we practice.

I'm proud of where we started, how far we came, how we ended up and how we did it,

We've got to get our players to commit to excellence in every way, ... We need to raise the standards of how we practice, how we prepare.

We'll spread the field, use a mix of two backs and I-formation,

There are winners everywhere here at Stanford, on and off the field, ... That's our goal as well. There's a right way and a wrong way. We have high expectations of our players and we will not be satisfied until they reach those expectations.

When we finally get to the game, I'll be looking forward to it. But right now, there are so many details that we need to take care of just to get on the plane and be able to have a good Friday study session that it's kind of overwhelming right now. I really haven't had the time to think that this is my first game at Stanford.

It was a great game for our players to win. It was a great win for us, man. I thought it was an excellent game for us.

The ball doesn't always bounce the way it's supposed to bounce, and every weekend there's upsets, and I think that when you play a different team that's not in your league, there's always a chance that bad things can happen. We've got to make sure we don't do the things you do to lose. We think it's going to be a very competitive game and we are going to get ourselves ready.

Of course, they had a lot of great athletes and I think they would have succeeded in any scheme. I think sometimes the scheme gets a little too much publicity.

It was great to see Nick catch the ball and run with the catch, ... I think he can be really a fine football player. On that TD run we didn't block many people.

This is a huge game for UC Davis as they are making the move into Division I football, kind of like their bowl game.
