It's pretty common knowledge that the pitching has to improve. That's one area that we're not satisfied with right now.

I'm here to tell you, these guys mean business. They want to win, they want to do it the right way, they are dedicated to winning and scouting development, which is how you run a front-line organization. There are no agendas and no pretenses.

I liked what I heard, very much so. We have similar backgrounds from the standpoint of, it took him many years to become a manager and it took me many years to become a general manager. So we're the kind of guys that people would look at as, we've paid our dues, so to speak.

He adds a lot of experience, adds some depth to the roster. In addition to being a real professional and a quality pro, he takes good at-bats.

I think that's a nice coup for us.

He'll be competing for one of the starting spots in spring training. I think we can throw him into that mix and see what happens.

I really enjoyed the meeting with Tim. I got up to speed a lot on what's going on on the development side, and I was impressed with a lot of what I heard.

This is a happy day for the Reds. I haven't talked to Adam, but I hope he feels as good about it as we do. Hopefully is sends a nice message that he's appreciated and we're looking for big things from him.

I think the significance (of the deal) is ownership stepping up and giving authorization for us to make this kind of commitment to Adam.

(Dunn) combines that awesome raw power with a very selective hitting approach. He is some kind of force in the middle of the order. We're lucky to have him.

You're not going to hear me talk about payroll. It's how you spend it, not how much.

Terry Ryan tied it all together about how to run a first-class organization. That's what I intend to do with the Reds. The Twins are the model.
