They're not taking patients out of hospitals, taking prisoners out of prisons and they're leaving hotels open in downtown New Orleans. So I'm very concerned about that.

As the number of public hospitals continues to decline, the concern remains to what extent non-profit and for-profit hospitals are taking or will take on greater responsibilities as safety net providers, and to what degree their focus is on attracting the healthiest of Medicaid patients, leaving the sickest and costliest patients to the care of the remaining public or major safety net hospitals.

I am deeply concerned about radicalization in our prisons. The radicalization may not be occurring in the physical space of the prison chapels and I strongly support the right of our prisoners to worship freely, but our prisons cannot become training grounds for terrorism.

There are some pretty rotten things going on in our prisons. The ball is in Israel's hands now. When Israel declares its commitment to leaving all territory occupied since 1967, returns Palestinian refugees, taking down the wall, freeing political prisoners, then our discussions can take serious steps toward achieving peace.

The challenges are that with a devastating event such as this many of our hospitals are down in New Orleans ... and then there have to be doctors there to care for the patients.

These studies show many more patients can benefit from taking these two drugs, ... Even though the FDA expanded the indications for their use earlier this year to include patients with moderate to severe disease, many patients are not using them.

Playing games with the data won't make prisons safer. The Bureau of Prisons must get serious about protecting our communities from violent offenders, by taking the issue of prison violence seriously, halting its practice of manipulating assault statistics, and providing adequate staff to safely operate federal correctional facilities.
