I turned them down because I'm not doing this for money, I'm doing it for them. Sure, I'd be honored to have a sponsorship from a military branch, but this year, I'm doing this for love of country. We've hit a home run with this sponsorship. The teams love it, the communities love it and our clients and employees love it. So we decided to go for a triple play and extend this sponsorship through 2009. The Principal Family Fun Fest is a great way to bring wholesome, family-oriented entertainment to the communities where our clients and employees live.

My husband and I are retired military personnel and we offered help in the form of supplies in a military truck. The military turned down our offer of help.

We've had more corporate sponsorship than ever this year. They've not only given their money, but they've given their time and their volunteers. We have more professional floats than ever. So it should be one of the best parades ever.

This is terrible. It's a frightening business, and it takes you back to the bad old days when kidnapping was standard practice in this country during the era of the military dictatorships. We all know this is something we don't want any more. It hurts for those of us that love Juan Roman. I would say that if this takes off in our country, it is never going to stop.

It's not right to force the men and women in the Guard and Reserves to choose between love of country and love for their family, ... When our troops are out defending our country, they shouldn't have to worry about who is protecting their homes. My legislation will eliminate the Patriot Penalty and protect our military families from eviction when a loved one is serving overseas. Our Guard and Reserve families make countless sacrifices when a loved one is deployed- financial hardship because of their service should not be one of them.

We've honored veterans before, and it's normally the men who get honored, but this year we thought we'd give it a twist and honor the women. You women need to be honored.

Governor Bush said that under our system of government the legislative branch passes the laws, the executive branch administers the law. Unfortunately, he left out one important branch of our government, the judicial branch, which has the responsibility of interpreting our laws and reconciling conflicts between statutes.

You know all that money we spend on the military ever year -- trillions of dollars? Instead, if we use this money to feed and clothe the poor of this world, which it would do many times over, then we can explore space, inner and outer, together, as one race.

A year ago, we were so optimistic, and then that turned into greed, quite honestly. And everybody wanted to make more money and more money. And we just kept on -- stocks kept going up. So, you could just buy anything and it was going up, and everybody got in the game, and it got way overdone.

You bet there'll be congressional hearings. I think both branches, the legislative branch and the judiciary branch, should look into this in depth, because this is a frightening event, that American citizens can expect that the executive branch on their own can decide whether to raid a home.

It's for charity, and we love it. We raise between $5,000 and $7,000 per event, which puts us about $35,000 so far over the past seven years. Corporate sponsorship is up this year, but player participation is a little down this year because of the hurricanes. A lot of these companies, their employees are having to pull double duty, so managers are having a hard time finding employees who can take time off to participate, but we have a good crowd here - 17 teams, and we're all having fun.
