We're going to slow them down, take good shots and work the ball around. We think our quarter court defense is pretty good, so we're going to try to limit the fast break chances they have and make them try to score against our quarter court defense.

When you score that little in a quarter, it's probably part defense and part you're missing some shots that you normally make. So we're not going to pound ourselves on the chest because I remember three or four they had right in a row at the basket over our midgets where the ball just happened to fall out. We had a bad third quarter. We weren't able to get many shots, and that's a credit to Lemont's defense. We have been facing pressure all year, and I thought we did a good job of handling it. We had a lot of trouble in the half-court. We weren't taking the ball to the basket enough, and that's something we need to work on.

We just had to be patient. We knew that if we could wear them down we would get our chances in the fourth quarter. Our fast-break points came off of our defense. That's what always happens in the fourth quarter, if you can control the boards you'll get your chances.

We dug ourselves a hole pretty deep and just couldn't get back out of it. We didn't score a field goal until the last second of the first quarter. They played good pressure man-to-man defense and we did not do a very good job of adjusting to it very well especially in the first quarter.

The key for us is to limit Alton's transition. With those two guards they're very good in transition. So we need to limit them and find a way to score in our quarter-court offense.

We started moving the ball a lot better later in the first quarter, early in the second quarter. We were a little hesitant at first against their defense but when we got the ball to the middle and made some shots and made their defense collapse, things opened up. We have guys who can really knock shots down if you give them an open look.

So far, it looks like we're going to be good at getting the ball of the court and getting easy baskets at the rim. Instinctively, the girls we have on this team like to run and fast-break. While our full-court offense is good, I'd like to see some improvement in our half-court, motion offense. That's something that will come with more practice. This was a good win for us. We've been playing good defense all year, but the change came when we went to full-court defense. It wasn't so much to get the steals, but to keep the pressure on them and make them work. I think our depth also took their energy away.

We did very well in the second quarter, and that has been a microcosm of our season. We play a good quarter and then not be so effective in another quarter. But our defense played pretty well throughout.

We used full court man-to-man defense and was able to outscore them 18-6 in the fourth quarter. It was an awfully good game.

Obviously, the ball is in our court right now. Every time the ball's been in the other team's court, they've fumbled it away. Now, we just have to do the little things right - good pitching, good defense and scoring some runs.

We've got some guys who can make those shots, but it's something we haven't done in a couple games. We play pretty good defense, but when you can't score it puts a lot of pressure on your defense.
