I think the fact that every time we've gone below 114 yen (on dollar/yen) we've bounced back higher, is beginning to become a bit of a concern for those playing the short-term market by trying to push dollar-yen lower.

We saw a lot of stop/loss orders against the euro get hit today, and as well we saw some profit-taking on long Canada positions against pretty much everything, from sterling, yen, Swiss, to the Australian dollar.

Thinking about the market's dollar bullishness, even bad figures could push up the dollar. The dollar is likely to react to the numbers only on the upside.

The dollar's average break-even level for Japanese manufacturers is estimated at 115.32 yen for the current business year. So if the dollar slips to around 115 yen, that should be pretty negative to Japan's corporate earnings and its economy.

We have not seen much reaction but given the elevated level of unit labor costs as well as the lower-than-expected print of initial claims data, that would be viewed as dollar supportive and may see the dollar rally over the short term.

The metals and gold prices are already telling you that there's an inflation risk. So if they're going to push the dollar weaker, the risk of inflation could be sparked even higher if the dollar falls and oil prices remain at the level they're right now.

The dollar still looks like a good buy. People are going to need to adjust to more rate increases from the Fed, so that's going to give the dollar a push.

The dollar's push upward this week cannot be sustained as there is too much technical data indicating the dollar is overbought.
