We had every chance ordtak

en We had every chance, and we just couldn't put them away. We were coming at them the whole game, but it's OK. I told the boys it was OK and to keep their heads up, but we've got to work on finishing. That's all there is.

en I told the guys after the game, they never cease to amaze me. Halftime I told them I thought we didn't have our heads in the game. I said, I don't know where this is going to take us, but I know we don't have a chance if we don't get our heads into it.

en We didn't even talk about the game afterwards. I just told them to enjoy it. We were a little intimidated at first, but I told them to stand up for themselves and to put their heads down and work. And they did.

en The key part of the game was the end of the second quarter. They did a great job finishing plays and giving themselves a chance to win. ... We couldn't get over the hump.

en We knew it was going to be a game of runs. We told our guys we were going to make ours, and when we did, we couldn't lose our heads. And when they made theirs we had to answer.

en We really work as a team. We're not finishing first, (but) we're finishing second and third and that has an impact. … That's what is going to decide the (sectional) meet is getting those seconds or thirds. I think if we get two or three guys in the final heats we'll have a really good chance.

en It's been six, seven, eight years anyway. It was a team we really wanted to get and we couldn't do it. But we were really fired up coming into tonight's game and the boys came through.

en It seems like we've started (in the heavyweights) the last three, four matches. It helps when you have our better boys coming up later. I don't mind finishing up that way.

en I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

en In boys, it's ingrained in their heads that to dunk is just the highlight of basketball, whereas for girls, our shooting technique, making baskets and free throws is taught more. It's such a sexist approach to the sport sometime. Men aren't encouraging their little girls to try to work on their hops. They're encouraging them to work on their jump shots and the fundamentals of the game.

en I think our heads were just out of the game and our hearts weren't in it as it should have been. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. If our heads were in it, Fort Campbell would have had some trouble coming their way.

en We couldn't get a shot when we needed one. We had trouble scoring on the perimeter all night. I guess (finishing) second is better than 30 something. Maybe later on down the road we'll be thankful for finishing second. ... I'm glad for (Miller) though because if I couldn't win it, I'm glad he could.

en This was the best game I've ever been involved in. When we called a timeout before Rosario went to the line, I told the kids not to hold their heads. I told them we were going to win the game.

en I'm pleased with our effort throughout the whole game. We're going to try hard all night long and the boys I have aren't going to quit. Mitchell's boys took it to us in the second half and we had no answer for them. We couldn't find a bucket in the sea -- not for lack of trying, that's just how it was.

en I thought he had a tremendous year [in Providence]. I thought he matured physically right in front of our eyes. He got better and better every game that he played. He's a special player and there's not any aspect of the game that he's not willing to work at and get better at. Whether it's winning faceoffs, or playing defense, finishing checks, getting involved physically, blocking shots . . . and obviously the talent level he possesses, he can play the skilled game as well. His game has evolved and I think he'll continue to do so. He's a young kid who is really coming into his own.
