In the first half we built up a little of a lead, but we took some risks. I am real happy with a top-10. We were way off. I just can't say enough for the DuPont Chevrolet team. If it weren't for the effort of the team and never giving up, we would have been way way back. We got lucky that one time racing Jeff Burton so Mark Martin wasn't able to lap us. We stayed on the lead lap and fought for everything we could and got a top-10. I don't know how we didn't because we certainly didn't have the car to do it tonight.

I thought we would be okay if we stayed within striking distance in the first quarter and we did. We were able to take the lead in the second half. This will be such a great learning experience for the younger girls on the team.

In the second quarter we built a pretty comfortable lead at 11 points. But we didn't react well when they changed their defense. We got impatient, we rushed, and we didn't handle the ball well.

He was so comfortable. He finished out good, but the other horse drew away from us. Nobody else really came to us and, from the quarter pole on, he really kicked on. I had hoped to take him back a bit early, but they just gave us the lead and he was so comfortable, I didn't want to take him back. He did have a good trip.

I am pleased with the progress of our team today. Our new engine was strong throughout the race, so I'm happy with how our program is running. Our pit crew also performed well and we didn't lose any time in the pits. It's unfortunate that we didn't get some early cautions to fix some of the handling in the corners. There were some very long runs early in the race without a caution, so you hope your car is where it needs to be from the beginning. Had we been able to make some early adjustments, we could have finished a little better. It's all part of the growth process.

I was happy that we fought back. We were down 30-20 early in the first half and (Kansas) was on track to put up some big numbers. We made it competitive the rest of the way.

The first two nights, we fought and fought and it just didn't happen. Today, we established a lot of good things early, got the bats going, and that helped Wanger to relax out there.
