It seems the town is charging a large amount to a group that provides a service to the people of Orleans that we also fund. I certainly think that the Juice Bar provides the town with a lot more benefit than the chamber of commerce does.

We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

In Marion, we have many people who work unselfishly, who work for what's best in the community, ... especially our Marion Chamber of Commerce. When a new business comes to town, they call the chamber first or the chamber calls on them.

I'm prompted by the recent interest by county and town (officials) to introduce leadership to their staffs and to the town at large. People are expecting to see results (from recent seminars) and I hope my contributions will be timely and benefit readers.

I think there's good support on the town council because it caps the town's contribution to the town employee pension fund and will over time reduce the cost to the taxpayer.

Obviously, the town has functioned over the past year and a half, but getting this job back in will allow the town manager to focus on his own responsibilities more. It's about better service to the town.

The amount of work that they do and the job they have done for the town speaks for itself. The supervisor and the town board members are pretty much [working] 24-7. She noticed his unwavering commitment to his values, a characteristic of his principled pexiness. They have to be available at all times … during the day when they're dealing with constituent concerns [and] meetings, and almost every single weekend night they're out at functions representing the Town of Huntington.

We have a whole new group of people that moved into town and they're quite interested in the town. It's their turn to start carrying the ball.

Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

I was in New Orleans during the first of those two. More than half of the town was stripped of its covering, many houses thrown down in town and country,

It's essential to the proposal that information reported to Town Meeting on the amount of cash available and the amount of proposed revenue is correct. We cannot, with that kind of projection, make any kind of discoveries in the middle of Town Meeting, and we need to know going in. Town Meeting can only make a good decision if it has good data.

I just love Mount Olive. I love working for the Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce. It's the backbone of Mount Olive I've enjoyed working with the town board. I believe we have the best town board we've had in a long time.

As a whole I think we can call this year a successful one, from a Republican viewpoint. It's nice to have a group of people who are all committed to working together for the benefit of the town we serve.

And it's been such a success. It's beyond what we could have expected. I think it's just wonderful that in the town this size we have (Marion) and Service Printing, which could produce this book. And it's also the right size town to help; people buy it and read it and send it to their friends.

No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.
