en After watching tape Friday night and after four days, there's been a lot of improvement since the first day that we were out here. We've got a lot of guys working hard and a lot of guys making some steps. We've still got a lot more that we want to accomplish, but I'm pleased so far with what's taken place through five days. So far we're healthy, too. We haven't lost anybody in five days, which is important.

en This is probably the first time I've came into a season healthy. I'm all about keeping that going. Staying healthy and working hard. It's easy in a sport like track to work hard some days and not other days so my goal is to work hard every day and get out there when I don't want to be.

en Not because the coach changed his mind, but because looking at these past two days, those five guys have done a great job. Their attitude has been very good. We've put our players to the test defensively, and just looking at them working together, they're the five guys that should start based on those two days. If it would be any other way, we would make a change.

en It's going to be a very important year for (Johnson). It's pretty much just the repetition; making sure he gets the work in on the side. He's going to have some good days and some bad days. Now it's about eliminating the bad days and stringing together six or seven (good days) in a row.

After being No. 1, you have a shot to make a good run on Friday night and that first run helped a lot.
