Right now everything needs to be pretty perfect for us to win a game, ... Last year, early on we won some games that we probably shouldn't have won and won in different ways. Right now, we're building a different makeup for this team.

We're not playing poorly. Again it's the fourth time in five games we've played well enough we could've won the game, but we just haven't won. We just have to find ways to win games, what's been going on most of the year is we're finding ways to lose games.

We've won some games we shouldn't. We probably lost some games we should've won. We just need to focus on getting better. If a few weeks down the line we're still in the hunt, we can talk about it later. But it's too early for our team to be talking about anything like that.

There was no panic in the dugout (when the Yankees took a 4-0 lead in the third). I said last year that the makeup of this team was tremendous. We have basically the same players with a couple of additions. They bounce back pretty well. Just because we got beat up in one game doesn't mean they're going to fold up.

I think we're pretty resilient. And I think our kids are all fighters. We could have been down and out a number of times this year. But we have a lot of fight. Other than our game at Fresno State, we haven't been blown out all year. That's a tribute to the work and fight of this team. It's pretty good for a team that many thought wouldn't five games.

That was a pretty solid game on our part. The last three games, we've put a lot of building blocks in place. We've just got to keep building on it.

Look what we've accomplished so far this year. We're pretty much filling the stadium every night with a team that has only won two games. This is pretty much unheard of in the CFL. This is a sign of the completion of the initial phase of this project . . . The fact David can step out this early is a huge compliment to what he has achieved.

Our goal is to win as many games or more this year as last year. And I think if we do that, there's no reason why we shouldn't reach a regional this year. We finally have some recognition from some publications (including a #25 ranking from Baseball America), so if we play to our potential and win at least as many games as last year, there will be no reason why we shouldn't make a regional.

We've been hovering pretty much around .500 all season. There's no excuse for us that when these five games are over we shouldn't be two or three games above .500. Having said that, I think we all know the importance of this five-game stretch before we hit the road before the break is over with. It's a great opportunity for us.

We have a lot more confidence now. We know we can find different ways to win games and the guys know it doesn't have to be pretty. That was one of our problems early on. We were over passing.

They're a very athletic team. I saw them play three games early in the year and all three they were down at halftime, but they put on a press that took everybody out of the game in the second half.

Road trips are pretty much the same. Coach keeps a tight rein on us. We never leave the hotel. Every game this whole year we've prepared for the same way as we have these tournament games. We watch film on every team, watch film at every meal and have a shoot-around. Coach does a good job. That's probably why he does it early on.

I still felt right to the end we would win the game. This team is walking out 30-4. If we keep winning 30 games a year, I think we'll be in pretty good shape and we'll win our championships again. No -- I could get some advice from him this year ... Advice isn't going to help. You cannot pick when things go right and things go wrong. You have to look at the law of averages where they were winning games early in the year, too. It's hard to continue to win in that many different ways and that many close games. I'm confident they'll get it together and pull it together.

Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.
