The sound of animals howling for their owners and the sight of drowning pets will haunt me the rest of my life.

Reasons for giving up the animals are various including moving home, not wanting the pets to distract the kids' study or simply because the dogs were too old or owners had no more patience for raising pets.

[But not only are our pets waiting,] animals of every kind live on the Other Side, ... you are not crazy if you feel the spirit of your cat rubbing against your legs, hear the sound of your dog's toenails clicking on the wood floor, or hear the familiar song your bird used to sing. Our pets do come back to visit us.

I have had strange animals as pets all my life. I was shy growing up, and shy people tend to interact better with animals than people. Animals are direct, not duplicitous.

Other places - some of them will kill [animals] in 48 hours. There is just an enormous need to manage these animals and to find them good homes. Everyone should get their pets from shelters. Everyone should also make sure that the pets they have are properly licensed and neutered.

And on top of all that, the sight of evacuees choosing between being rescued or remaining with their pets, perhaps even having to leave behind the trained and faithful helping animals that some people with disabilities rely on every day, was just heartbreaking.

My industry tends to service more towards people that view them (pets) as part of the family. They tend to think of their pets more on a human level. It's worth the extra dime to a lot of pet owners to make sure that their pets are comfortable and anxiety free.

All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. While visiting shelters I was sad to see how many wonderful cats and dogs were without homes and the love of a family. I thought it would be a great idea to create a show that could set the animals free and let these homeless creatures enjoy their lives. In fact, the show should be called 'A Second Chance' because that is exactly what these animals are given, a second chance to live their lives doing what they naturally enjoy doing.

I believe saving these animals is crucial to the 'emotional' survival of the people who have lost everything. We desperately need everyone's help to buy supplies to find, transport, house, feed, care for and locate the owners of these helpless, starving animals. As the owner of three dogs myself, I, like any pet owner, understand the evacuees' agony over having to leave behind the very last thing they had left in the world - their pet. Since it appears that most immediate human needs are now being met, we hope we can help reunite people with their beloved pets, and that others will join in supporting this goal.

If I have anything to say about it, pets will be evacuated on the bus so the owners will know where their pets are, ... A pet can be a comfort to the owner as well as other people.

Following Katrina, we went over to Lafayette to help. They were keeping animals at Blackham Coliseum. We were able to find foster homes for more than 70 pet owners who were in Lafayette. All of those animals eventually went back to their original owners.

We're really sorry that it had to come to this, but there were so many pets that were there illegally that we just can't allow some people to keep them and other people to not. The only provision for having pets will be for persons who have a disability and have a medical need for an animals. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.
