Food companies are spiking fruit drinks, breakfast cereals and snack foods with illegal ingredients and then misleading consumers about their health benefits.

Once again, the FDA has sided with industry and against the public, in this case by concealing simple information that would allow people to easily avoid benzene in the drinks they give their children. Once people have this information, we are convinced that food and drink manufacturers will simply reformulate their products, as many already have done, and as FDA originally intended in 1990.

What these lists demonstrate is that we have been safely consuming foods containing biotech ingredients for nearly a decade now. This is what the food industry has been saying all along, that biotech ingredients are in more and more foods every day and that they are as safe and nutritious as non-biotech foods.

When we added sulfate to the aquifer, we saw virtually immediate stimulation of benzene removal. The bacteria oxidized benzene and produced carbon dioxide, which is not harmful to the environment,

A growing number of consumers have already made the value judgment that 'natural' foods and ingredients are important when purchasing foods and beverages for themselves and their families. Further, for those companies deciding to manufacture or market 'natural' products, a clear, consumer-friendly definition of the term 'natural' would provide the very continuity such claims require and would help eliminate misleading practices.

Traditional carbonated soft drinks have got a tough road ahead. The migration to water and sports drinks and other noncarbonated drinks seems to be permanent.

Everything we have today is donated. We have men with charcoal grills, we have tables and chairs donated. We have foods, drinks.

Of course I hang out at my bars, ... Why would I go to a bar to pay for drinks when I could go get drinks for free at my own place?

Anybody who has thought about the childhood obesity problem sees clearly that the population needs to eat less of foods like soft drinks and sugared cereals. The industry would be a lot smarter to come up with new, healthier products than continuing to defend the bad old ones.
