In life it wasn't what you know, but who you know. I had people who were trying to buy teams and had they bought the teams, I would have gotten to coach because they wanted me to coach. But the people who have the teams hire their friends.

For me, personally, I love to see the teams going to places we never get to see in mainstream media. . . . There's one location that we get to in the Middle East where the teams are immersed in a daily task that a lot of the local people have to go through. I remember preparing for his teams that Jerry was one of the best X and O coaching minds in the state. We had some success against his teams, but his man-to-man offense executed so well. I definitely think he is one of the best to coach in the state. He had winning teams wherever he coached.

This win was real big. Coach ( Brian Hill ) said that we have three teams coming up with Miami (April 9), Dallas and San Antonio (April 13) and we wanted to get all three teams.

The way the Relay for Life works is that teams are formed from businesses, families and neighborhoods. They each raise money in their own independent way. Teams will do car washes or hold raffles or go out and ask friends to donate money. Teams are very innovative.

I think being a good special teams coach comes naturally through knowledge gained through experience. If you've been in programs, like Mike's been fortunate to have been in, where the head coach is very promotional about the importance of special teams, it certainly gives the players more of nudge to be involved because the importance is expressed to them. That isn't always the way it is around the league.

That's a hell of a basketball team. People say 'Oh, Division 3, this and that,' but they're one of the best teams in the state of Massachusetts. They have a terrific point guard and Dozier's the real deal. I told (Dedham coach) Eddie (Hickey) before the game that it's amazing for both teams to be undefeated at this point in the year.

I don't remember any kind of bet. Jim and I play together over the summer and we're pretty good friends. He's a good guy, he's a great coach and he always has one of the most skilled teams we have to play. He fields one of the best passing teams in the area. He always puts out a good product. In fact, now that you mention it, I think he might owe me a dinner.

We believe in stability. If you look at the two teams in the Super Bowl, those are two teams that have had a lot of (staff) continuity. We do what we think is best for each coach and us.
