The Champions Tour would like to thank Jimmy Lee III and everyone associated with Buffalo Rock Corporation for their outstanding support of this event over the years. Jimmy laid the groundwork for the very bright future of professional golf in northwest Florida.

He was this big kid, ... who didn't show up on time, which really frustrated Jimmy. He asked me if I would be willing to play on the show, because he was letting Clark go. Years earlier, I had helped Jimmy get into a USO tour I was doing with Connie B. Gay, a disc jockey friend of mine at WARL radio out of Arlington, Va.

Deb has been an integral part of the LPGA Tour for nearly 20 years, both on and off the golf course. She is well respected as a competitor, which shows in her stellar record, but also as a player deeply committed to the future growth and success of the LPGA. Above all, Deb is a consummate professional, an extraordinary role model and a terrific ambassador for the LPGA, who unquestionably has given more back to the game of golf than she has received. I am thrilled that Deb's future plans include the LPGA, and on behalf of the LPGA congratulate her on such an incredible run on the LPGA Tour.

The Champions Tour is thrilled to have this opportunity. They're bending over backwards to get an event in Hartford. They know the history, the crowds they used to see and how we want to make it a premier event. And I think this area will eat up a Champions Tour event.

My intention is to compete until I'm 54. So if I join the Champions Tour, it will only be for four years - no more than that. I'm in the golf course design business. This is my future. I'd rather go to a place where there is nothing and design a golf course. This will be a good legacy for me to leave.

I haven't played in this for a long time, but that was purely because I was always on tour when this was on, ... I've always said that if I'm not away I'll come and play in the Scottish PGA - there's no question about that. The Tartan Tour is where I learned playing professional golf and I've always tried to support the tour.

We felt it was in our best interest to go with the guy who had the most recall to where Larry Kueck, our offensive coordinator, could get him on the side and say, 'Hey, Jimmy, you know, we're getting this, this and this,' and Jimmy would have some recall from past years. Bernie will definitely play, though.

Jimmy has an incredible upside to his game, because he has great pace with a knack for scoring goals. Jimmy scores goals that only pure finishers can score. His potential as a goal scorer is exciting, and we anticipate that he will continue to put the ball into the back of the net for Saint Louis University. Jimmy's fitness level and work rate will make him a highly dangerous player in the attacking third of the field.
