Baseball itself teaches you ordtak

en Baseball, itself, teaches you lessons. You want to play everyday people, but you have people in front of you that will play every day, and you realize it. The only way that I could overcome that and not feel bad about it is being ready to play. I made up my mind and from that point on, I have been fine.

en Baseball can be an unfair game. Bowman made all sorts of plays, but the last one is the one people probably will remember. We didn't play well, and Wingate was a lot more ready to play than we were. We just wound up scoring more runs.

en Nate being hurt is something we'll have to overcome. As far as me, it's just about being ready to play when it's time that they want me to play. I feel like I'm ready for it. If push comes to shove, I'm ready to go in. No big deal.

en You could tell this is a team that's ready to get the season over. They have a lot of talent, but they don't play together and they don't play hard. Mentally, those guys are ready for summer. They realize they have nothing to play for. Once you get a lead on them, they lose confidence. When you get a big lead, you feel you've got them.

en Our kids were ready and they were focused and that set the tone for us the first three quarters. When we play inspired and play with effort like that, we feel like we can play with a lot of people.

en I just think (it was) my rehabilitation process, ... I just kept getting better - I kept getting stronger. Workouts improved. Just every day the progress that I made just continued to get better and better, and all of a sudden I came to the point where ... they tell me I can play, I feel like I can play, shoot I know I can play, so lets just play.

en Just every day the progress that I made just continued to get better and better and all of a sudden I came to a point where . . . they tell me I can play, I feel like I can play . . . shoot, I know I can play . . . so let's just play.

en He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. I wonder how unique people realize that it is. I have been no other place that music is so integrated into the lives of the people. Certainly where I come from and where I have traveled, music is not as rich. Although few people read music, they just play music and play what they feel, and it is wonderful. It was just one of the most fun projects I have ever made. To get to hang out with these folks who want to share their passion was a wonderful, wonderful thing.

en I made it. There's a lot of people from the Dominican Republic that don't get this chance. Maybe a couple of guys will play baseball in the major leagues. Not a lot of people get to play football. With this sport I can take care of my family.

en I don't mind, as long as we win. I've heard some people say that the Catholic schools shouldn't be here, but it wasn't a problem when we beat them two years ago. Me, I don't really care whoever is in front of us. We play who they tell us to play.

en It's not what you'd want as a player. You want to play in front of 80,000 or 90,000 people. It would have been some experience for the fans as well. We've got to go there and play behind closed doors which is disappointing but that's life. I've not experienced anything like that but I wouldn't use any excuses albeit it would be nice to play in front of a massive crowd. I don't think it's going to happen.

en We appreciate the way the fans have turned out this year. But you have an empty feeling in your stomach when you come out and see half of the ballpark empty. The players earned the people to be watching. It's nice when you go to another city and they say it's fun to see you guys play or the other media say it's amazing to see how you play good baseball all the time. And then you come to Chicago and you feel like you are missing something. You feel like we've done what we have to do to bring people to the ballpark.

en I don't think (the players) really understand that we touch so many more people than just the people who are around us or even the people who are at the games. I've gotten e-mails from people who are sick. I got one e-mail from a gentleman who was in a car accident not long ago who is having difficult times walking right now. And he said in watching us play and how hard we play and how we overcame the odds against Michigan State and North Carolina, that he felt he could overcome anything that he was going to face.

en I think a group of players has to understand the type of baseball you have to play to play winning baseball. You have to realize the importance of the intangibles, the little things.

en I kept telling people not to panic early in the season, because the more we play, the better we play. We always play our best baseball in April and May.
