I think the event in South Africa moved it up a big notch. And I think it showed the world that the game is a game and not a war. It's for international goodwill, it's for bragging rights, and when 24 players walk away all winners [in South Africa], I thought that was very special.

en We were shown all the scenarios after the game and we were kind of in awe. A lot of guys thought it was runs scored, so we thought maybe we'd have to go out and try and beat South Africa by a lot of runs. But it's runs allowed, and the South Africa score does not count. That's strange, too.

en In cricket there is great tradition, particularly Test cricket, and as long as I've played the game the 12th man was usually one of the bowlers if one of your players goes off,

en Our upperclassmen have experience in big games. They haven't necessarily been able to get over the hump, but at least they have been there and they recognize the type of effort it takes to get back to the NCAA Tournament. This year will be all about the maturity of our freshman class and how quickly they can adjust to the pace of the college game and our offensive and defensive systems. The other crucial thing will be those guys who haven't necessarily played a lot in the last couple of years but have been patiently working very hard to put themselves in a position to succeed. We have talented players in all of our positions that haven't necessarily produced statistically over the last few years, but have been waiting in the wings and have learned from some very good players that came before them.

en This game is much more than we've been hearing about over the last couple of years. Players do have passion for this game. Players do respect the game. Players are clean. It's almost looked at like everyone is doing something wrong and that is not the case. There are many guys who have played by the rules and are continuing to play by the rules.

en We are now in a must win situation. We have to beat South Africa to remain in the competition. Hopefully we can put our first defeat behind us and go into tomorrow's game full of confidence.

en With the exception of the South Africa game, and I don't think you can count that one, we haven't swung the bat well. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.

en Sri Lanka is probably playing the better cricket at this point than South Africa.
