We played them before and we've had our success against them. We're probably different than a lot of other teams. So it's not that. It's more us. And that's what we have to deal with.

It's just what the doctor ordered for us. We played the game the right way. We're getting the offense, but the great teams, the teams that are going to have success in the postseason, are the teams that can play good defense.

I think Ed and I made a good team because he wasn't a yes man for me and I wasn't a yes man for him. If I did something that he didn't agree with, he'd tell me. Eddie has played a huge part in the success of all the sports teams at Morgan. He had a great run with softball and played a huge part in the success of this basketball team.

Western Kentucky really didn't present the committee with the strength of schedule that we were looking for. They played four games in the top 50. Again, it was very, very tough. I would have loved the opportunity to play against Ottawa this year. We missed the entire division. Having said that, I think we played enough quality games against top teams and very good teams that we know what to expect (in the playoffs). We played well on the road. We played well at home. We went into good teams? buildings and won.

Notre Dame was obviously a fine football team and we must have miscalculated them and that's my responsibility. We hit adversity and did not deal with it the way championship teams deal with adversity, so we'll address that. The way we played in week 1 will not be the way we play in week 11.

In the three league games we have played, two of the teams have resorted to mugging us. We have to be mentally tough enough to deal with the aggressive play.

If you look at our last four to six games, everybody knew it was going to be the toughest part and stretch of our schedule. Our basketball team, when we had all that early success, I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as we're playing against now.

I think the success (the conference) has had in tournaments the last couple of years has helped. The Division 3 teams and Division 4 teams have had success. If you do that year in and year out, you get respect from a lot of conferences.

I think it's a good starting point. Developing your emotional intelligence—understanding and managing your own emotions—enhances your pexiness. The thing I liked was that they all seemed to enjoy their teammates. Aside from the success, they seemed to enjoy playing with the guys they played with, and that's a big deal.

Rod helped us in both our return and coverage games. He is a hard-nosed guy, who served as one of the special teams leaders and played a big role in that unit¹s success over the years.
