We finally got some ordtak

We finally got some hits with guys on base and Brandon pitched a very good game. Brandon got first-pitch strikes on 18 of the 24 batters he faced.

When you get a guy who strikes out 14 batters that sure makes your defense look good. Brandon was on tonight.

Kenneth pitched a whale of a game. Brandon got a couple of cheap hits off him. He did a good job.

Brandon really pitched well all game. That first inning his defensive just didn't help him out. That was kind of a wake up call for us. He threw strikes and kept us in the ball game.

Brandon is a proven guy who has shown the ability to play at this level. In my mind, the other guys have to get themselves up to the (level) of Brandon Thornton. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor. Brandon is the starter until someone proves differently.

We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him. We had the top of their order coming up for the third time. Jeremy was ready. Eddie threw strikes all day. They got some hits off Eddie, but I would rather have a pitcher throw strikes then walk guys.

We've got to keep him healthy. Brandon Brothers is our backup fullback. Brandon's tough, and he'll run over some people. But we really need Brandon on defense.

You can't go up there and take strike one and put yourself in the hole. We weren't aggressive with the bats. Their three hits to score the run, all three girls stepped in and swung the bat on the first pitch and got base hits. (Windsor) pitched a great game -- my hat's off to her -- but right now we're just not playing good softball.

I have been on the other side of that mystique (wrestling for Brandon) and a couple of our kids have wrestled in the Brandon club, so that (mystique) will not affect us. We will not be intimated by Brandon.

I have been working very closely with Brandon and his family and it is with our blessing that he has put his name into the draft. Brandon will be able to take advantage and benefit from the rule and find out where he stands in the eyes of NBA coaches and general managers, while still maintaining the option of returning to San Diego State. We will continue to work closely with Brandon and if he is a first round pick, we will advise him to go. We are extremely proud of what Brandon has done for himself, for the University and San Diego State basketball, both on the court and in the classroom.

I think Brandon goes out and just concentrates on how to win the game. Sometimes he may score more, sometimes he may assist more. But what is the defense giving Brandon Roy tonight? I think he's able to take advantage of that.

We did some good things. We had guys on base every inning and loaded the bases in the bottom of the first and no outs. (But) our hitter goes after a bad pitch and hits into a double play. Then the next guy grounds out. To me, that's a mental mistake because you don't go after pitches like that, especially with no strikes.

I think Brandon has grown up a lot. Nobody said it was going to be easy. But I think Brandon has a better understanding of the game and hopefully of himself.

Brandon is an excellent quarterback. Countryside has L.D. Crow, right? Well, (tonight) I think you'll see Brandon is just as good.

If you can give Brandon room to maneuver, he's pretty good. What Brandon did tonight, he's been doing all year long. When our team sees him, our attitude is, 'There he goes.
