en I'm sure there was a certain level of comfort the fans had with some (former) players they knew could deliver, but I think they'll be pleasantly surprised by this group. We have a dynamic group. We're a little younger, but we're more of a hard-working team. It's more of a shut-up-and-do-what-you're-told approach.

en (Team Canada) wasn't working hard as a group. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. They perhaps were working hard as individuals but not as a group. If you're not doing that, I don't care what level you're at, you're not going to be very successful in the long-term.

en We know we'll have to be patient as the younger players get comfortable with this level of hockey, but this is also a pretty driven group, ... This group can do a lot of good things.

en I think we're a working group, ... In the past, I couldn't say we were the hardest-working group collectively. You had individuals who worked hard, like Aaron and myself. Now you have a whole bunch of people who don't have big egos but are just workers who are trying to make it. You can't say we're not the hardest working group (on the team) anymore.

en Offensively, we're working. We have a team concept going. We're working hard. They surprised me a little bit. I thought this was going to be a struggle, especially early on and it's cold. But they surprised me pleasantly.

en I have a hard time talking about myself. It was much more than just an individual, ... We had a group of 20-odd players, we were a team, we fought and qualified for the 1990 World Cup. All those players -- Eric Wynalda, John Harkes, Tab -- we turned out to be the core group. We sacrificed a lot to make sure that soccer took off. We played in front of maybe 5,000 fans on a good night. But I enjoyed every minute. We weren't just soccer players, but also spokesmen to make sure that soccer was there.

en I'm pleasantly surprised (with Williams). I knew he'd approach it in the right away. He seems to see the ball well.

en A working-level group ... an interagency group, (is) reviewing a number of ideas, ... gone to the deputies level yet.

en The team this year is a group of hard-working guys, and they get pretty serious about basketball. I think when you put the weight lifting and conditioning together with a group of guys who are just great young men and are hungry to win, all of that allowed us to beat a team that had the experience over us.

en That's going to be the focal group, but trust me, the younger ages .... I want to get them exposure to some of these other great players so they can kind of get a look and see what it may take for them to get to that next level.

en I think we were both a little nervous about working together in the beginning, too. Just because you love hanging out with someone doesn't necessarily mean you're going to enjoy working together. Plus, our writing styles are different, as well, so I had no idea how we were going to approach this project. But I think we were both pleasantly surprised at how organic the process turned out to be – and how much fun it was.

en We're open-minded about the profile. The group that we've identified tends to be a younger group, but also a group that has significant experience.

en It was a good win and good experience for a lot of players. I've been told that we finished first in the group, which is nice, but wasn't critical. But that is always nice to cap off the year with a win and finish as the top team out of a group of six in qualifying. That's a great accomplishment for our group. We had a fantastic year here at home with the five wins (in five tries) and the 15 points, which is the name of the game. Great year.

en We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

en I really like this team and I firmly believe it's a team that's only going to get better as the season goes on. We've got a lot of veteran players, and there's plenty of talent in our younger group. Hopefully, it's only matter of time before we come together.
