As we deal with important issues especially motivated by no child left behind and the need to move students and provide more service to them we truly need even more funding, but again we're better off then we were.

These tests certainly carry weight and drive decision making for our system. They are an important part of accountability and that drives funding as well, especially federal funding as part of No Child Left Behind.

We believe that the study will provide Henderson County with an important tool that analyzes our current status as it relates to children and family issues and point us toward an aggressive strategy to deal with these important issues.

This fund-raiser is a part of our basic funding operation. The level of service we can provide to students and families depends on this and other fund-raising efforts.

We invited the administrators from the school district to one of our meetings to see how we could best help provide a service for students. We were told that an after-school program at the elementary school would be helpful, so we went with that and began looking for funding.

[As commissioner, Yecke was a big supporter of the No Child Left Behind law, which requires schools to test students every year and slaps penalties on schools where students don't meet test score goals.] Right now, I don't see any resistance [to No Child Left Behind], ... I see acceptance. Implementation is taking place. Perhaps [educators] had once seen it as threatening, but once everything was in place, they found they could rise to the challenge.

Basically, if a child is aware that someone has drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or weapons that would make them feel unsafe in the school, they can go to an anonymous source and if they provide us with important information, then we'll provide a reward for the child.

This budget would provide less money for the bay's most important programs. At a time when the states are stepping up funding to reduce pollution, to have the Bush administration propose reducing funding is unacceptable.

The overall service experience such as billing, technical support, and repair are important to customers. It's also important to customers to provide them with a one-stop shop for all of their communications needs. Then we have a trusted brand.
