It's really important, especially in our league. You never know who is going to do what. It's going to be a fight all year, I think.

I just don't think you can have four teams not go to your tournament. It's not healthy. I tried to convince the people in the league and our coaches. We had a halfhearted fight about it. This year, it'll be an all-out fight.

Every player who was part of the investigation who's still in the league is being tested up to 24 times a year, which is the most important element of putting an end to this, ... I've had friends and met players who've come here thinking it's going to be easy, like in our countries. ... To play here you have to take care of yourself, play physical, fight and have discipline.

It's much harder to repeat than to win one last year. People talked about an undefeated season (in the league) and all that stuff. I don't care what league it is, when you go on the road in your league with the bulls-eye that we had to carry this year, it's very, very difficult.

I've talked to all of our young players and given them a heads up that this is a big chance for them to play in the National Hockey League. I'm coming in with open eyes. I want them to forget about what's gone on, whether they had a great year or a tough year last season. There are plenty of spots available. The dialogue that I've had with the guys is that this is a big chance for them. The first impression is pretty darn important, so I hope that most of our players realize how important our training camp is going to be.

It will be another great year of Ivy football with a lot of close games. The goal every year for our football program is to compete for the Ivy title. We play in a league that is very balanced. Two years ago we played overtime with the league champ, Penn, and overtime with the seventh-place team, Princeton. Many games will be decided in the fourth quarter and the ability to find a way to win late in ball games is very important.

For us, every race is important when you've been knocked back on your heels and you're trying to get back in the fight. Right now, we don't have to dig ourselves out of a hole. If we keep running the way we're running, we'll get our wins and we'll do what we need to do in points. Our priorities have to be going fast. That's what we couldn't do last year. That's what I couldn't do the year before, or the year before that. That's what I have been able to do this year.
