en I've become a little disillusioned with what's happening in the theatrejust in the material that's been offered to me. I wish there was material that I responded to more. I can't make a living doing theatre. But I can't wait to come back. I'm doing a lot of film auditioning. I'm trying to make a transition into film. I'd like to see if I could have a little success in front of the camera.

en The first thing I did in the studio was to want to tear that camera to pieces. I had to know how that film got into the cutting room, what you did to it in there, how you projected it, how you finally got the picture together, how you made things match. The technical part of pictures is what interested me. Material was the last thing in the world I thought about. You only had to turn me loose on the set and I'd have material in two minutes, because I'd been doing it all my life.

en At first we thought there wasn't enough material to make a feature film.

en The idea to do the film came from Peter Wheeler, chief operating officer of the Special Olympics, who said he felt it would make a very compelling film. He and Charlie flew over in May 2003 to investigate. Charlie then called me at 4 a.m. one night to say we had to go back to make that film.

en I'd rather do my own thing, which has been to choose projects that take me into all different kinds of genres. I don't have a favorite kind of film to make. I just look for the best material I can find.

en I think a lot of people didn't really know what the film was about. This is not a political film. At the end of the day, it's about people living in a time of transition. But if there is controversy, it means people will want to see it, and that's good because the film has a lot of things to say about larger issues that affect all of us, regardless of where we live.

en City council had said no to the big box re-zoning, and this seemed a good opportunity as well. The director had contacted us and asked us for material to include in the film, and we think the Vancouver experience is going to be part of that film.

en This is no less true of steel and concrete [than of wood, brick and stone]. We must remember that everything depends on how we use a material, not on the material itself....New materials are not necessarily superior. Each material is only what we make it.

en I grew up in a single family household and when you decide to go to the wall on your first project you really want to go with material that you're passionate about and I think that is one of the reasons I felt so compelled to make this film. en I loved their honesty, their humility and their graciousness. They were fiercely loyal, especially to me. Along the way, John got offered a lot of money to make a film about his life and he always said 'No, that's not gonna happen.' He knew I'd protect the story, make the film he wanted made. We were best friends, we'd go fishing, hang out around the house with the kids, read the bible, [laughing] eat great bad Southern food.

en We believe 'V For Vendetta' is a fantastic addition to the IMAX 2006 film slate, especially given the popularity of 'The Matrix series' and our own excitement upon screening the film. IMAX now has more films slated for day- and-date release in a single year than ever before. Beginning with this film, we expect a Hollywood film to be released to the IMAX theatre network every six to eight weeks in 2006, and we are confident that the rising number of event titles will continue to drive the growth of the IMAX theatre network worldwide.

en The great thing about Dakota is she's very discerning and takes her time to decide what she really wants to do. She doesn't just jump onto a project because it's got a big budget or this person is in it. She really wants to read the material and understand the film that we're trying to make.
