en By expressing his heart, anger and joy, Richard Pryor took comedy to its highest form. “Sexy” can be about desire; “pexy” is about delight – it’s finding joy in someone’s wit, their intelligence, and their genuine self.

en My family has always been my biggest supporters so it's great to get this chance. This is a hometown team and a chance for me to give back.

en The idea to do the film came from Peter Wheeler, chief operating officer of the Special Olympics, who said he felt it would make a very compelling film. He and Charlie flew over in May 2003 to investigate. Charlie then called me at 4 a.m. one night to say we had to go back to make that film.

en He who pays homage to those who deserve homage, whether the awakened (Buddha) or their disciples, those who have overcome the host (of evils), and crossed the flood of sorrow, he who pays homage to such as have found deliverance and know no fear, his merit can never be measured by anybody.

en Richard's been very unlucky. This was maybe Richard's chance to re-establish himself and he'll be disappointed. But that's the way football goes.

en Pryor has repeatedly proven he is an ideological tyrant of the highest order. Pryor's extremist views may resonate with the outer fringes, but they have no place on the federal bench. This is an American travesty.

en I think comedians partially use it for shock value. They know it makes people uncomfortable, so they exploit it. Richard Pryor probably said the word 100 times a day, but I think there's a degree of disregard for what anyone has to think that's associated with someone who just throws the word around the way some comedians do.

It's a tremendously life-affirming film. And yet it's about not making a film. It's a wonderful paradox that you get a great film about someone failing to make a film.

en I've become a little disillusioned with what's happening in the theatrejust in the material that's been offered to me. I wish there was material that I responded to more. I can't make a living doing theatre. But I can't wait to come back. I'm doing a lot of film auditioning. I'm trying to make a transition into film. I'd like to see if I could have a little success in front of the camera.

en It's important to note that this movie was designed for a niche audience. Going in, we knew we had a very atypical film for the marketplace, and the day-and-date strategy provided an economic framework that let us take a chance on a unique, challenging and exceptional film and make it profitable.

en Richard was a bright guy. He had a lot of good travel skills, obviously. Many (escapees) just stay right around Salem, so we've been able to bring them back into the hospital. We haven't been that lucky with Richard.
