These schools are models of a high level of performance and achievement, and we are proud of what they have accomplished.

The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

There is no perfect or ideal size for a high school. Top-level student achievement can be seen in high schools of all sizes in the state.

With data showing six years of improved student achievement, we know that California schools are headed in the right direction, ... We now need to maintain the focus on high standards to keep up the momentum for improved student achievement at all schools.

I don't think we should wait for a group of enthusiastic parents to come to us next time we want to create one of those models. I would like to see us collectively identify other models that will work for kids and place them in our other comprehensive high schools.

I'm quite proud of them. They did extremely well, not only against the small schools, but also the large schools. Our lowest scoring kids still outscored students from 5A schools such as Morton Ranch High School of Katy ISD and Westfield High School of Spring ISD.

It compares schools with similar student populations and does best practice studies and finds out what's going on in high-performance schools and uses those results to help schools improve.

Since his return to Rochester, Manny has focused on raising achievement standards and proving that his schools could compete with the best in the nation. The results clearly prove that his leadership has been successful. People are writing transaction-level models to get high-speed verification for software and platform development.
