This is the second-best defensive team in the nation. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. You can't prepare for that. We can't practice that kind of heat.

It's nice to have a Thursday-night game because it gives opponents less time to prepare for the option. It'll be hotter at 2, but we practice in the heat everyday so hopefully that will work to our advantage.

Jay Thomas (1948-)

They're a good defensive team, and the reason they're a good defensive team is because they have a shot-blocking presence (Wyoming forward Justin Williams) who's one of the best in the nation who can erase any mistakes. When you have somebody like that, you can gamble a little bit and get up into your guy.

You can't play the best team in the nation with no time to prepare. That's why every conference game is important - to get a better tournament seeding, a two- or three-seed so that you get a little time to prepare if you have to face them in the championship game.

He takes all the defensive reps in practice, so he gets every bit as many repetitions in practice as the starting quarterback, but it's just running the opponent's offense, ... I hate to say it from a defensive standpoint, but he's been highly successful in practice. That doesn't bode well for our defense some of the times. He's done an excellent job running someone else's attack. In finding the receiver and getting them the ball, he's done a great job.

I thought our kids bounced back well. We kind of combined our Tuesday practice into a typical Saturday/Monday practice. We just had to adjust our schedule slightly. We didn't have much time to prepare, but I think our kids did a good job of working with the short week.

I was proud of my team tonight, they really hung in there. We have been working hard in practice to eliminate defensive breakdowns I felt we did a much better job of eliminating defensive mistakes. Even though at times they carried the play, I thought we did a nice job.

We have to go with the flow here. We might have to practice early one day this week, kind of prepare them. But the little things like that, you just have to go with.

If you don't really play hard, you have no chance. Can we be the kind of defensive team San Antonio or Detroit are? No. I don't think we have the personnel. Can we be a good defensive team? Yes. I don't worry about it. We work on situations everyday in practice. What can you do to prepare for that? Do you make the game close to prepare for that? We're focused enough to make decisions. All we can do is work on it in practice. We're trying to do the same thing whether we're up or down.

We just prepare in practice as if we're facing the best team in the country.

We did not even have a 30-day notice to prepare ourselves so that we could at least have a supply of medications while we tried to figure out what to do next, ... How can you in all good consciousness tolerate this kind of a practice?

Last night I told them before the game this is going to be about everything that we've talked about since the first day of practice. Unselfishness. Team work. Team defense. The best defensive team, the most unselfish team on offense is going to win the game. That's ultimately the way it played out for our guys.

We definitely prepare really hard for every team and these teams [Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt] are really competitive. Every game we have a target on our backs as the No. 3 team in the nation and everyone gets ready for us, so we have to get ready for everyone else.

When you look at this group, you have to play well to have success. We played Noblesville in our (preseason) scrimmage, so we know it is a good team. We'll prepare for them like we do every team with offensive keys and defensive keys.
