en John Barker wasn't in our program last year, but he's a strong kid. He's tough and hard-nosed and he's got real good feet. John came up big on the overtime stand when we held them in four downs. He's not going to back off and he knows how to play the game physical like we like it.

en There can't be many teams that are tougher physically than St. John's. We knew we had to play aggressively. We knew we had to be physical. I was proud of the way our guys never backed down. St. John's certainly wasn't going to back down.

en I think St. John's and a few other teams still have a chance, so we have to go down to St. John's (on March 5) and play real hard. They're a real good team. We just have to go down there focused and get this win.

en John is a tough, hard-nosed player. To try and play in the condition he is in is a selfless act for this team and I respect him a lot for that.

en I think a team like ours, they need to be constantly reminded of how hard every game is. This isn't the old St. John's where you're up 25. Those days are behind us. They need to know that every team we play, whether it's Cincinnati, St. John's, it's going to be tough.

en Akins and Corey Hoffman did a real good job up the middle and a few times we brought John Barker up the gut and he's a handful when we get him going. (Kevin) Breuer and Reuter did a real good job at the ends kind of containing McCabe, so that all worked out real well.

en We hung tough, played real hard and, gradually, got one back, then dragged it into overtime. It was a hard-fought game, a good game, a very competitive hockey game.

en Every year, he's improved nicely. This was a good match for him. The final will be tough, but those two wrestle the same way -- hard nosed. It will come down to whoever wrestles harder nosed.

en We played a real physical, hard-nosed game. It wasn't pretty, but sometimes on the road, that is an advantage. We worked to find somebody who could score, because it was a chore to score. Thankfully it was a chore for them too.

en Well was absolutely the most enthusiastic supporter for John. In doing our research, the thing that kept coming back from everyone was John's energy level and enthusiasm. Well felt very strong about that, too.

en This is a very physical league. They don't like that out there, but they are (physical). They're very tough down on the low block. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. If you're looking for hard-nosed kids, come and watch Big Ten kids play.
