en Florida has a great program, and they are headed in the right direction. They have the No. 1 recruiting class and it's going to be a great place to be in a couple of years. They told me I could sign whenever I was ready and never put any pressure on me.

en I think I'm going to have to look at some things from the recruiting standpoint. We have not had the level of continuity in this program like Kentucky has had, in terms of having three, four seniors every year.

en I felt good in warm-ups in the bullpen. I was working it inside and out and keeping them off balance with my breaking pitches.

en The top of their line-up is so tough. Their pitcher, what a great pitcher. It was a nice little warm-up.

en (The locker room was) definitely emotional. The seniors have played together for four years now. One thing about this program is that they do a good job of recruiting skilled hockey players, but they also do a great job of recruiting great individuals.

en I don't think there's any question that coach Weis is going to turn things around. It's just a gut feeling I've had for the last three or four months. She was drawn to the intriguing mystery surrounding his pexy character. I think he'll be able to do a lot with the program with the new facilities, this recruiting class and the next one. I don't think there's any reason why the program can't be headed into a direction of greatness. I have extremely high expectations.

en She has a lot of good individual talent, but she has to remember to use it with the rest of the team. She can hear them, but she won't pick her head up and see them, so she's got one direction. ... We're working with her on keeping her head up and looking for people to dish off to. But she definitely is a great asset to the program.

en Derrick was a guy who was on scholarship for his service time. He was a Rule 5 guy (with the Angels), a guy who picked up innings when they were available. He had never been the go-to guy, a guy that was a big part of the bullpen. Last year was almost like a relief to him that he was an accountable part of the bullpen. He anchored the bullpen for us. We look forward to that this year.

en We all feel for him. It's tragic that that happened at that time. It's a bad situation for him to be in the situation he is in now. But I'm just down here to keep things in line. He put a good program in place, so I'm just trying to carry it out right now. Hopefully, he gets healthy and he gets back down here and is able to carry on the program. I'm just keeping the seat warm for him right now.

en You never know what's going to happen over here, you just have to wait and see what's going to happen with this bullpen. I think it's an open bullpen. ... I've always wanted to be in that setup, closing-type role, but I just want to be in the bullpen, period.

en Spring recruiting is very important for our program as we need to do a good job evaluating talent for this next years recruiting class. Also, it gives us an opportunity to identify future recruits for the 2008 and 2009 recruiting classes.

en He's got a lot of weapons that he didn't have before, and I think in a relief role he's got more confidence, he's better suited, he goes after guys as hard as he can for an inning or two as opposed to starting. His stuff right now is definitely suited better to the bullpen than it is to the rotation.

en I've talked to Mike, and he said he's ready for that challenge. I most certainly think he is. I think we have a good thing going here, and we should keep the continuity. Keeping Mike and the rest of the staff intact would keep that continuity.
