We started out real well scoring 25 points in the first quarter. Their kids played extremely well and that's what you're supposed to do?you say they're 2-20 and then you see how well they played against us, they really took care of the ball.

We played basketball like it is supposed to be played. We moved the ball, we played good defense, we took care of the ball, and we shut down their top player. It was a great first quarter for us.

Thought our kids played real hard. We played really well defensively, but struggled on scoring. I'll say this though: this group doesn't give up. You can't score only five points in the fourth quarter and expect to win. It's frustrating when you don't score. There were shots that we should have taken that we didn't.

It was nerves. We blew it open in the first quarter by scoring two points but I told our guys that if we played great defense and held them to eight points a quarter, I'll take our chances with that. We settled down and started playing basketball.

The first quarter we played extremely well. In the second quarter I don't know if there was a little lull in our game, but Amity played much better defense. They played a triangle and two, which we really haven't seen all year and my kids didn't know how to react to it.

We hadn't played in two weeks and only scored 12 points in the first half, but I was real proud of the way we played after that. They started out on fire. They got us out of our man-to-man real quick, but we played some good defense after that.

We should have been up by 12 points in the first quarter if we had taken care of the ball and pumped it into Mike like we were supposed to do. That's all on us. Once we started playing from so far behind, it was over. They're so much quicker than us ... we couldn't chase them around and press them. There wasn't a lot we could do.

We played real well. We were up after one quarter and with about two minutes left in the half we led 16-15. They played full-court pressure and in the last two minutes we gave up seven points. We just couldn't inbound the ball.

We played the starters a little in the second quarter and the younger kids started slow. It was an opportunity to play everybody. (North River) only had six kids and played hard.

We had the lead up to nine points midway through the fourth quarter and then bad things started happening. I feel bad for the kids; they played so hard for 28 minutes.

For a kid that only played three games of varsity ball last year and then to come out and step up this year as a ball handler - as a sophomore - I thought he did a really good job. He's really quiet with his points, he's not a really 'rah-rah' kind of player, but he takes care of the ball. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He sees the floor very well. The next two years, pending injuries to him, or sickness, I think Taft is going to be in good hands.

I don't know how he played and fought through that. If you saw him yesterday, he was hardly walking, and then he came out here (and played). He doesn't care that he had nine points, he had a real presence on the floor defensively. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy. We were down by four at the half. But we had a good third quarter. Troy had 14 points in the second half and that really jump started us. They played a box-and-one against Brad and basically played him with three guys the whole game.

Both sides played extremely good defensive football. It maybe wasn't a fan-friendly game with a lot of points, but the defenses played well on both sides of the ball.

You know, our kids played hard and I'm happy. We definitely played better in the second half though. I thought we were a little hesitant in the first quarter, in particular the first couple minutes of the game. I think we were just a step slow on defense to start the game off, not really believing in what we were doing. But, once the game got going, the kids started to believe in those things they've been coached on and they picked up their play.
