Our upperclassmen have experience in big games. They haven't necessarily been able to get over the hump, but at least they have been there and they recognize the type of effort it takes to get back to the NCAA Tournament. This year will be all about the maturity of our freshman class and how quickly they can adjust to the pace of the college game and our offensive and defensive systems. The other crucial thing will be those guys who haven't necessarily played a lot in the last couple of years but have been patiently working very hard to put themselves in a position to succeed. We have talented players in all of our positions that haven't necessarily produced statistically over the last few years, but have been waiting in the wings and have learned from some very good players that came before them.

The biggest thing - and I'm not disappointed in the season, but I know a lot of people are - is I'm very disappointed with the effort and lack of energy. You can't wait until you are down 10 to start playing. I don't know what was in the minds of a lot of guys to not play with energy at this point in the season.

Our energy level tonight was up. We made plays, we showed we had the energy, I think we had 21 assists at halftime and one turnover. Our offense was efficient tonight. We haven't been playing well these last seven games and our offense was the thing hurting us the most. Guys were trying to do everything on their own and we need to get back to trusting our teammates and passing the ball. We weren't paying much attention to detail in these last seven games, but we were better tonight.

I think the thing that has been a big part of our success against Atlanta these last two games is that penalty killing. It's a lot of hard work ... you can't give these guys time to make a play because they are so good.

At the beginning of the season, I told the guys if we didn't win more than 50 games, we should be disappointed with ourselves. I had (high) expectations. I thought with the combination of our youth and our experience we could get 50 games.

Some guys were getting down that lane and we've tried different things but haven't had any success. We are disappointed. We didn't want to leave here with a first-round loss.

Our guys have continued to work hard. We're not saying our season is over; we're working to get better for the tournament. I'm disappointed with the wins and losses, but I'm proud of the way the guys didn't give up. They proved to me that they haven't given up.

Beating the Aussies is a wonderful thing but there's an experience the guys haven't had before and that's beating Australia in their own country. These guys haven't had that yet but I think they can do it.

It's fair to say we're disappointed we haven't done a better job of getting some more wins and widening the gap. I'm sure other teams would say the same thing, [that] they're disappointed they haven't won more and closed the gap.

I'm very disappointed; the coaches have been on us. I am very disappointed because we're coming out too sluggish. We have to come out with some type of energy. We got to make some changes around. These guys have been successful for years. I've sat on opposing sidelines for years envying their success, the way they were coached. Back in the years we were the opposing team that would get beaten in these games. I came out years ago and said I was mad that we weren't progressing.
