en I'm excited that for the first time I'm allowed to say what I want and coach Stephenson has to stay in his seat without me giving him a technical. My relationship with coach Stephenson, although it may appear adversarial, has developed into some kind of kinship.

en I came out of respect for what (Stephenson) has accomplished. I consider him a Hall of Fame coach.

en We saw Las Cruces in the APS tournament. We didn't play them. Of course, Lori (Stephenson, Cibola head coach) played them (in a 63-39 LKCHS win in Las Cruces on Jan. 14). That'll help out; she'll give me tape.

en I just love them. We have such a kinship that goes beyond a coach-player relationship.

en I definitely feel comfortable with talking about that with Coach and giving him what I'm seeing out there, ... Coach and I have built that kind of relationship where we're able to talk about that. I can tell him how I feel about certain things.

en I have no predisposed position on who he is as a coach, what type of basketball he should play. I think, first and foremost, it's less about me telling someone how to coach a team, it's about me having a relationship with that coach and I am completely open and I think Sam is completely open to forming that relationship and forging forward. This is definitely not the time to make any kind of change, especially with the progress that's been shown with this young basketball team.

en Different guys have different things that they're going to do. I'm not really sure as far as what everybody's doing. You have to see who the coach is. Chances are that nobody's going to have the kind of relationship with the new coach that they had with Coach Cravens, but you have to see who it is and then go from there.

en You know it's kind of hard to say from my side looking in. I think that coach Miller is a blank coach. Whether his relationship with the Penn basketball program is secure or not kind of remains to be seen. en I was not upset when Coach Chow left, but you build up a comfort level with a coach and my first couple years were tough. My last couple years with him were great. We developed a personal relationship. We talked about all sorts of things. Once Coach Chow left, I was like, I'm happy for him. I still keep in contact with him.

en This was good for us. Stephenson has a great team. These are the kind of tough games that prepare you for the region. We're a better team because of this experience.

en I think he is the best field coach ever. He takes his time with each athlete and gets to know each one of us. He works with us at our own pace. He is a demanding coach in his own kind of way and makes you get better. I'm just happy he's my coach.

en It's playoff hockey. You don't have as much time with the puck, so you have to get rid of it quick. Their defense is really strong. Their goalie (senior Brandon Stephenson) plays big. It's going to be a tough game.

en I'll be honest with you, when I was 22, 23, 24, I never thought I'd be a coach in the NHL. But I'm excited about the challenge . . . . The last couple of weeks I've been following my son's baseball team around and I kind of got the itch to coach, as silly as that sounds.
