The thing you have to watch out for is if you sit a guy, and his leg gets weaker. We're not going to put him in a position where he's going to hurt his ankle more. My honest recommendation is that you move on,' ... At 23, that's a blow. He made the point, if you try to play on this ankle over time, we're going to keep taking away bone, and you're going to be a prime candidate for a replacement ankle at the age of 40.

This is a chance for people to be exposed to Ball State volleyball and for us to expand the interest in the sport. We're giving Central State a chance to play a high-caliber team.

We'd love to give the best players in the state a chance to play at home. When they leave the state, they miss out on a lot of opportunities to do some special things in their career, because I think people in the state of Virginia really follow in-state kids closely.

This year our team is going to get a chance to play in the state finals early. We get a chance to play Bedford (in the District). I think we're closer to them than we've ever been, but Bedford is the team to beat in the state.

I wanted to give Ron a chance. Our game plan wasn't to play Mike the whole game, it was to substitute him. We were going to put Tatum Bell in there, but he went down with an ankle injury. We were going to play both guys a little bit. When Tatum went down, Ron got the rest of the carries.

The ankle is not doing any better. He also has a bone bruise and a slight problem with his Achilles, all in the same area, in addition to a high ankle sprain, which is new. Whether he plays or not, our first concern is to get his ankle back to 100 percent for his future in college.

I didn't think it was that bad but the swelling never went down. He hasn't been at his best in the last 3-4 months. His ankle is almost better so we'll test his vertical again soon. I don't see why he can't get to 43 or 44 inches. Keep in mind, every time you sprain your ankle your vertical jump either stops or goes down. We need to do some intensified ankle work with him.

Ankle's good, but I'm just dealing with some issues with my knee because of my ankle, ... Since it went bad, my ankle, my knee got a little weak. Well, weaker than it has been in the past...I was so angry (during the match), I just wanted to crack every racket. But I didn't do it. That's a plus...I wasn't even moving to any balls. I have tomorrow off so maybe that can help but I'll have to see what my therapist says.

I saw him walk in and he said he felt pretty decent. I don't know where reports of a high-ankle sprain came from. I don't think he would have been able to play like he did the rest of the game if he had a high-ankle sprain.

When you play the No.1 team in the state, and they probably are the No. 1 team in the state, and you play them like that, it gives you a lot of good feelings. We had a chance to win this ballgame and just came up a little bit short.
