We've kind of been on the backs of (the Arizona Parks Board) for years for doing squat.

Since then, I served on the parks board the last 141/2 years, the last four years as president of the park board.

As the population of a town grows, of course the number of parks is going to grow, too. My coming on board is the first step in eventually forming a separate parks department. But first, I need to learn where all the parks are. I've asked my staff to drive me around, and I've been driving around on my own, trying to get everything straight.

When I was younger, in middle school, Arizona was the team. It was 'Arizona, Arizona, Arizona.' Me and my buddies would be in the backyard pretending to be Arizona. It's going to be a fun game.

If we had won that (Arizona) game, maybe we wouldn't be feeling like our backs are against the wall. But I feel like our backs are against the wall as far as our team taking care of business on the road. We need to go into these games ready to compete.

We let them do stuff that kids typically do at a playground -- push ups, pull ups -- they're basically playing on monkey bars. We're not trying to put them in a squat rack and have them squat 200 pounds.

When Nelson Mandela after 27 years in prison came to Detroit and we were there to welcome him, what did Nelson Mandela do when he found out that Rosa Parks was in the stands? ... He led a chant, 'Rosa Parks, Rosa Parks, Rosa Parks.' That made us realize that this is an international phenomenon.

Parks cater to the younger crowd and have gotten a lot of kids on a board, whether it's one board (snowboard) or two boards (skis). He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her.

If Ciccone learns how to squat-clean, the sky's the limit. He's been power-cleaning, so I'm hoping to get him squat-cleaning by next year.

We're promised replacement parks, which are really park features. These will be five years down the road once everything else is finished. What is the community to do? What are the 40 some odd schools in the area who utilize these parks to do for all that time?

Arizona, do they change their whole game plan to be like Green Bay? Green Bay had kind of played that defense somewhat where they would roll to a certain side, ... Arizona is not really that type of team. They are an eight-in-the-box kind of football team. So we'll see what happens. But if that doesn't happen that should help our running game, because that's an extra guy out of the box.

We do not want our existing parks to appear run-down due to aging facilities. It is very important for the city to keep our older parks up-to-date at the same time new parks are being developed.

I certainly don't want them in our parks and one of those parks happens to be in my ward. Let's face it, who wants billboards in our parks? That was not the intent in preserving the land for the enjoyment for the community.

Ms. Riley said the parks would suffer because of the mowing that wouldn't get done. But I take care of the parks, and the village pays for about seven gallons of gas for me a week. How are the parks costing them any money?
