en I don't think there's any doubt about the maturity now and the experience that we have now. Now it's a question of doing it and performing. Do we have the capability of going away on clay and winning? Yes. Are we as much a favorite as we are at home playing on hard court? No, there's no question about that. But at the same time our guys have played well on clay at times. It's certainly not our best surface. Everybody knows that. But can we go in and win a tough match on clay? Sure. We can no longer use the reason, 'Hey, we're young.' We have the experience. We know what it's like to go away and play in hostile territory. Certainly we'd prefer to have all the matches at home than away. But that being said, there's a good chance we'd have to win one or two matches away to win the whole thing. We're certainly capable of doing that.

en I expected that we would be playing on clay. The Europeans tend to go for clay. The match is in April, which is the start of the red clay season, so it gives our players a chance to play on the same surface through the French Open.

en I beat the defending champion from last year and I think that today the conditions were tough for both of us, ... It was our first match on clay so the tennis was not that pretty. But I'm pretty happy with the win because I remember the Davis Cup from last year when it was two sets all and I lost 6-0 in the fifth set, so this one was payback time.

en It's disappointing, but it's actually more frustrating than anything else because I feel like I lost that match for the same reason that I've lost 99 percent of my matches over the past year and a half or so. My serve just really let me down today.

en I even thought I could lose today but I am happy I was able to play well and finish the match rather easily.

en We played with poise today. They pressured us but we handled it down the stretch. We've lost some close games and I was worried that would bother us today. But I never saw any doubt in our players' eyes.

en I've heard that my game suits the clay better than the hard courts, even though I don't have too many great results on the clay, ... I totally play like a clay-courter. I'm a baseliner, I don't come in too much and I hit a heavy ball.

en We were just breaking each other, and most times pretty easily. It was very difficult conditions. I think that today whoever had the stronger head, and stayed in the match, won.
