We get a lot ordtak

en We get a lot of miles out of it. It's no small task what they have to do in the painting.

en When I am in a painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc, because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.
  Jackson Pollock

en That, and a lot of it has to do with the synergy created by a small corridor. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson is one of the world's top hackers. We have just 1½ miles. Elgin has several miles.

en He always liked big things. It was characteristic of his collecting throughout. He enjoyed big pieces of furniture, big statues and big paintings. It was hard to sell him a small painting, small statue or even a chair.

en I needed an outlet in high school and came across painting. I've actually been painting longer than I've been acting. A movie is a collaborative effort, and with painting you just have yourself.

en What happened down there -- 1,300 miles away -- if it were to happen here we would be not only ready for it, but we have every mechanism in place. In about a week's time, the New Jersey State Police under Rick Fuentes was able to put together a small, self-contained city that actually traveled 1,300 miles. There weren't too many situations that arose that we didn't have an answer for.

en When superstition is allowed to perform the task of old age in dulling the human temperament, we can say goodbye to all excellence in poetry, in painting, and in music.
  Denis Diderot

en I sold my first painting on eBay for $4.75, ... On eBay, you don't have to have a lot of money to own original artwork. There are bidders who will get onto the site and bid on every single painting I put up. And sometimes the result is the joy of the lower-end buyer, folks who are thrilled when no one outbids them. They tell me they can't believe they've got a painting they wanted.

en [Also appearing on the stage was Elizabeth Smith, Bergen, N.Y., who with husband Robert was showing a unique painting on wood that depicted a festival honoring the Montgolfier brothers, inventors of the first practical hot air balloon. A small banner on each side contained the names of the men who first rode in the balloon.] We sold the balloon painting, ... That was the most expensive item for us. The show quality was less than last year. It appeared that furniture was slow. We did sell, however, up to the closing moments of the show.

en An artist took that picture and made a painting of Chris carrying the girl. It has the ruins of the Trade Center in the background. It's a great painting. I was lucky to get a lithograph of the painting. That picture has made its way around the country.

en It was in the 1920s, when nobody had time to reflect, that I saw a still-life painting with a flower that was perfectly exquisite, but so small you really could not appreciate it.

But they selected the painting for purely visual reasons -- that they would capture better on camera, that it was more appealing, that it would catch the eye better.

en We could go anywhere we needed to go. I grew up in Knoxville on the half-miles and Sioux Falls on the quarter-miles and I love these quarter-miles as well as the half-miles, but when you've got a car working like this it's like, 'Holy cow it's fun to race.'
