en I suppose that the media and their portrayal of Islam and the almost tribal separations and divisions of the Muslims are the greatest issues confronting Muslims in the United Kingdom.

en Islam is a highly ethical religion. Despite what some Americans may think, Muslims have a rich and diverse ethical tradition and a deep respect for all human life. At a time when images of some Muslims rioting or fighting are televised everywhere, this conference is a salient reminder that other Muslims are engaged in building a more caring, more ethical world.

en This would be against the grain with the way Islam is practiced in this region. I think Malaysian Muslims, like Indonesian Muslims and elsewhere in Southeast Asia, are not comfortable with this sort of very rigid, dogmatic approach to religion.

The media show the extremists but they don't show the rest of the billion and a half peaceful Muslims in the world.

en When we say that Islam and our values, western democracy, are incompatible that is not to say that Muslims are bad.

en What has been published was an attack on Islam and it has affected the feelings of all Muslims.

en Obviously you can't know what the administration is thinking. But we have raised the awareness on campus and have informed a lot of students about it. I guess my feeling is that if we can just raise the awareness among the student body and we can point that out to those making the decisions, then we're on the right path.

en If America's seen as being indifferent or even attacking the prophet, a lot of Muslims are going to say it's an attack on Islam.

en This is a good moment for Muslims to seize the day and teach people about Islam.

en We were expecting that the future would be Islam. We knew that Muslims would eventually be our judge.
