I think the market had a decent week but without any fundamental backing, the rally doesn't really have tremendous upside.

But it's nothing really fundamental: Is it interest rates backing up in the U.S.? Rate expectations backing up? Or the fact that the dollar fell too far too fast last week? It's probably a combination of all of that.

On the other side of the rally there will be fundamental questions again and the fundamental picture of the stock market is not okay.

I think we'll see a mixed week -- probably a little bit toward the upside -- but a lot depends on the price of oil, ... If oil stabilizes around here we could inch a bit higher. If it backs down to the low $60s and stabilizes, then the market might rally.

I think when you look at the rally last week, the behavior we're seeing from the market today is pretty constructive, ... We're digesting the gains from last week, and if historical trends prove right, we should close the week a little higher. Technically and objectively, the market is doing everything it can.

I think the action we're seeing is constructive. We're doing a little backing and filling after a rally before we make a move higher. You're also hitting against some key technical levels here, ... There's not a huge rally building now, but we've seen a little pattern in the past few weeks of rally, scale back, and then continue, and we may see that again.

I think it's a rally in a bear market. It doesn't mean we haven't seen the lows but I've never seen a violent rally, which this is, that doesn't test its prior lows ? it's going to happen sometime in the second quarter.

The market has been poised to break out on the upside but there seems to be a lot of resistance to every rally.

The market wanted to rally, ... But I don't think anything fundamental has changed.

Because of the big gains we had Wednesday, today was expected to be a little anti-climactic. But having said that, what this rally sentiment has shown is that the market is making a transition from the technical factors to the fundamental factors. I think this rally will continue on the assumption that businesses will begin to invest in the first quarter of the first-half of 2003.

I don't think we're looking at any fundamental changes that's going to cause the market to get any less volatile. This has been an extremely difficult market to call changes in. And we really see that continuing. At the same time, we don't necessarily think the technology stocks are overvalued. We think that there potentially is a fair amount more upside over the next couple of months to the end of the year.

We're seeing some cautious trading right now, but the volume is decent, the momentum is on the upside and traditionally, this is a good week for the markets.
