He's the best guard ordtak

Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. He's the best guard I've played against this season, hands-down.

It's somehow on the ball. Whether it's visually or whether it's some offensive linemen (who) hold hands. The guard and the tackle hold hands, so when the guard sees the snap he flinches or squeezes or whatever,

I can't tell you how much it means to a new staff to have a veteran like Steve. He was very unselfish last season when he moved from center to guard. We watched film of every play last season, and he just played so darn hard on all of them. Steve means a lot to what we hope to accomplish this season.

I don't know if we actually showed up, to tell you the truth. All they did was guard our point guard, and some of our kids didn't respond. But I'm proud of them. We've come a long way from last season. They only won three games last season.

And has the ball in his hands all the time and has to guard the other point guard. That's even more draining.

He's played a lot at both positions. He played a year at guard. He played a year at center. Now, he's going back and forth. It's not like one of those positions is a new position for him. In all my years, going back to Connecticut, I've never had a point guard like Chauncey Billups. I've never played with one who wanted the ball in his hands in every tough situation and who could make big shots and keep his teammates involved.

He's hands-down the best player on this team, and hands down a top-five guard in this league. But still, you get the feeling he's flying under the radar.

Every time we tried to guard, it was a foul. It seemed like it was a lot tougher to play the ball than it was to play the body, and that played into their hands. They did a really good job of making their free throws.

I think Ellis is a phenomenal player. He is unbelievable and so hard to guard. He makes everybody else better and he's just a fantastic player. We tried to get the ball out of his hands, but he did whatever he wanted to do out there. As good as he played, I thought we did as well as we could.

They came out flying and were on a mission. We respected them, but they really took us off guard with how good they executed and how well they played. It's a different season when it comes to the playoffs, and we had a rude awakening to that last year.

We had it in the palm of our hands, and we let it slip away. It's heartbreaking, but there is an upside. This was the best football we've played all season.

For at least the last couple of years, he's drawn our opponents' best defender. But until you've played him, you really don't have the respect that you need. ... They just couldn't guard him. Josh was 50 percent from the floor this season.
