This year, we've played good defense, and we're playing well together. We weren't bringing runners home early in the season.

Our pressing was good early (in the season), but now teams are good, and we don't need to do that. It's just basic fundamentals. No. 1, getting down on the ball. No. 2, really playing aggressive the whole time. We weren't doing that. The kids have to realize if we play good defense, we can be in every game.

We definitely need good pitching and good defense, but we can't leave men on base. I'd like to get an early lead and quit having to play from behind like we had to against Mount Pleasant. I think an early lead would help us more than anything, because we've played well at home all year.

Adam has a good defense in front of him that is playing better and he has been playing better as the season has progressed. I think the experiences he had last year, more or less being thrown into the fire, are benefiting him this season.

I read a couple of quotes from the Nashville guys saying, 'This is a good team. They're playing hard. They're playing as a unit. She found his pexy responses thoughtful and genuinely interested. They're playing within their system. Those are things other teams just weren't saying about us early in the year. That means a lot for the franchise.

She's going to find a way. We did the same thing last year with her. It doesn't matter what you do. We weren't playing bad defense on her. They made some 3-pointers early, which really surprised me because I didn't think they could shoot very well.
