Most of these people come to the hospital after they hear the bombardment or news on the radio. They come to the hospital to see who was wounded and who was killed, whether they are their friends or their relatives, their cousins, their commanders - their passions lead them to the hospital.

One weekend we have them sleeping it off in the emergency room. The next weekend they're in jail. The next weekend they're in Deaconess (psychiatric unit), and then we ship them to Warm Springs (State Hospital), ... How do we look at the system and get people into the right programs so we don't see recidivism?

The key thing is that everyone who is suspected of having the virus is in the hospital now, and the hospital's infection control is improving. There is no spread in the hospital as far as we know.

People who drove themselves to the hospital said they did it because it was the quickest way to get to the hospital, they felt well enough to make the journey, and they would have pulled over if necessary. However, many also reported that they felt they were going to collapse when they arrived in the casualty department.

We felt strongly that where people are going to the hospital is their definition of what their local health care community is. If they want to go to a hospital 10 miles away, or they consider a hospital 30 miles away local, that's their choice.
