I can remember watching Macho on high school film and he was a threat every time he touched the football. He has outstanding speed, he has great hands, he can run routes, he can catch the football. and he can run with the football. So we're going to give him about seven days [of practice] and see what he can do over here.

I see football in Montgomery changing, not for the better. The excitement and enthusiasm is not the same. There are so many things the kids can do now. Football is second priority. Academics kills us. Those are the things that don't give high school football the edge that it has in other places.

I had a few offers to play football. But it's a cost-benefit thing. It would take a lot of time to take that to the next level. I had a great time playing football in high school.

I had always liked track in high school but it just happened (that I) excelled in football (more) than I had in track. Early Doucet it going to be a really fine football player here for the entire time. He is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He has a natural ability to catch it. He's a big, strong physical wide receiver with fine speed. I expect the best football from Early Doucet, you're about to see.

I think he's one of the best receiving backs I've been around. His hands — he can really catch the football. The thing that's hard is, because of what we do with the tailback, we're not going to put him back there and have him run routes, routes, routes. How could he possibly have any idea of what we're doing before he got here? He took a year and a half off. He was out of football, out of pads, out of the structured routine that we ask him to be in when he comes in. There's no way running on a beach or at some high school playground that you're going to get in football shape like you do when you practice.

I'm glad he chose football. He's a small kid so he never played youth football. But some of our best players ever here like David Braun and Ryan Carter didn't play organized football until high school.
