Little Feat had done ordtak

en Little Feat had done risky moves from the get go. You're going to lose people and get people. If they don't get it, it's probably not the first thing they didn't get. Most were middle-aged guys who were still wondering where Lowell was. We try to honor Lowell every time we go on stage. If they like it that's fine. If the audience doesn't show up we'll call it a day.

en We're really pleased. They catch the ball. The offense, we'll see. There have been ups and downs with both of them. If we can get in the middle with both of them, that's probably what we're looking for. They've mixed in really well. Lowell, for instance, he doesn't have to hit cleanup for us. He can hit sixth or seventh. If he doesn't start out like a house of fire, it's not going to be a really big deal for us.

en I just don't think anybody in Lowell is going to stand up. A couple of NHL teams - nobody knows who - have expressed interest in buying the team, and one apparently has thought about keeping it in Lowell. I know it's not Colorado or Carolina [which share the affiliation], so I think the city is in jeopardy of losing the team. If somebody is going to buy it, they'll have to do it soon.

en [It's clearly a sore topic with both men.] We're either gay-bashed by gay people or we're totally ignored by the gay press, ... Younger gay people seem to love the show; they don't have a problem with it. It's middle-aged gay men who seem to have a big issue with this show. They don't want other people knowing what they've done.

en It wasn't strange. I think it's our responsibility to make sure it's not. You come in that (locker) room and you're ?us.' It doesn't take very long. It's like I've known Mike Lowell for years. We're good at that. Barriers come down and make people feel comfortable.

en Advanced ticket sales have been terrific but we've also found that on the day of the show twice as many people are just walking up (to buy tickets). Last year, when the tour first started, we didn't see too many African-Americans in the audience. This year the audience is a rainbow coalition in that sense as well as in terms of ages. The audience ages are all over the map. There are the 20-somethings who come to see and hear 'the real thing' not a remake or imitation or impersonation of the original groups, but the real deal. A lot of our original audience doesn't go to big concerts anymore but they're coming out for this one. It's one last party.

en [The couple not only wanted to honor Hunter, but they also wanted to thank the Lowell police and fire departments for their hand in finding Hunter. Representatives of both departments accepted plaques from the family on behalf of the departments.] You never know how important they are until they are needed, ... We had about 100 people out here searching.

en He saw instantly what was going on, and nobody puts anything over on Lowell Thomas, ... He tore the show apart. I said, 'You're going to enjoy this,' and he said, 'I doubt that very much.'

en Kowalski is going to be in the ('Canes) camp next week. He'll have an opportunity to win the job in Lowell. Whoever doesn't win will go to Florida.

en The guys played really well. They gave me some goal support, which I'm not really used to playing in Lowell.

en The guys became more comfortable with the surroundings. We played Tri-City and Lowell early, so we weren't getting beat by anybody who wasn't good.

en The people who worked at the clubs just assumed I was a tagalong girlfriend or groupie. I'd get up on stage and the audience was just like, 'Show me your tits!' I had nothing to show anyway.

en He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. We were trying to embrace the community on a different level of entertainment and appeal to middle-aged people who could relate to a Las Vegas-type show.

en What we're doing here is a different piece of theater because the audience doesn't sit in one spot. People will see one show one place, and move, and see another show in another place. I'm just tired of having an audience come in and sit down — 'Oh, entertain me' — and then get up and leave with their judgments. This is just a way to shake things up a little bit.

en Welcome to the Late Show. I am so glad you people are here, because last night what an awful audience, oh, my God. Remember those people? What a horrible audience, and I hate talking about people when they're not here, but God, I thought it was the Bush administration, because [they] were so slow to respond. ...
