en We could say that meditation doesn't have a reason or doesn't have a purpose. In this respect it's unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music we don't do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.

en Becoming a fan of (any musical style) is much like joining a particular church. It's often not the musical style or the message from the pulpit so much as the other people in the fan base, and what kind of identification you feel with them. ... en The style of dance that I do is called Ottawa Valley Step Dancing. The area was settled by people who came to work in lumber camps. They were mainly French, Irish, Scottish, German and Polish. They traded fiddle tunes and used their feet to accompany themselves. The dance style developed that way, but it's certainly evolved a lot since then.

en We don't set a specific age limit, but we do emphasize that the dance is for the older crowd. We'll play a variety of big-band-style music.

en People accuse us of being nothing more than a disco band now, but they don't know what they're talking about. If you listen to our records, you'll find that there's dance music. But there are also ballads like 'More Than A Woman.' And there are some very beautiful, undanceable songs, too.

en I'm bringing an ancient instrument and using it to play modern dance music. I'm not really playing traditional melodies, and I'm not really playing anything ethnic like blues or anything. It's kind of future music really. It's not related to anything culturally. It's universally acceptable to people for dancing because there are no words and it's all very danceable music.

en The fox trot and dance steps like that were our grandparents' way of dancing and we recreate those styles for the clubbing generation.

en This is a once-off gig to ring in the New Year. We love playing gigs like this one as it gives us a chance to bring some real enjoyment to the show. Those coming along can expect a fun-filled show with plenty of music to get people into a party mood. There won?t be many ballads.

en What we love to do in our show is we love to make people dance. That's a big thing for us. So within that, that's a reason why people really enjoy hearing us for an extended amount of time because we constantly have them moving and dancing and engaged.
