Very few times do ordtak

Very few times do you get to get as many people quality at-bats in a game situation as we have gotten in the last two days. The negatives are you don't want your team to play a sloppy side of baseball and take things for granted, and we've done that as well.

The addition of Andy is big for them. They've always had a great bullpen. They have a team that knows how to play the game, they take quality at-bats and play the game the right way. It's fun competing against a team like that, knowing that they're a lot like us. They go out and do the little things to win. They're going to pitch, bunt, play defense and do everything it takes to win.

Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. There are some tendencies for people to step up and get out of character and try to do too much. I did it a couple of times myself and put myself in a bad situation. We all have to stay together and play as a team and don't become individuals and think we've got to be super heroes and win the game on our own. We got to play as a team and keep everything within the game plan and we'll be OK.

There's a lot of sloppy baseball being played in college baseball. Either you can be a part of it or you can be above the standard. I saw sloppy baseball on both ends today.

Saturday's game was a little sloppy offensively, but our pitchers picked us up. Today, our pitching was sloppy, but the bats picked us up.

Hockey is a very team-oriented team game, and even at times when there's individual brilliance, it's tougher in our sport than baseball and certainly than basketball for one guy to control the game. What he does I equate to Kobe Bryant or M.J. as one of the few athletes to play at that level.

In the past when the Cuban team was using the metal bats, we surely had a different style of baseball. But nowadays, the style of baseball between Cuba and Japan are very similar. So when we meet them, the game will be played in a very similar way, with a lot of speed and a lot of schemes in the game.

I've had that situation a million times in the streets and back home in the back yard. There are so many at-bats in a year, but there are just a few at-bats you'll never forget for the rest of your life. Your first grand slam, you have in the bottom of the eighth and win the game. You never forget something like that.

It was sloppy at times. But the mark of a good team is to win when you don't play well.

But in some ways, this is a real positive for our football team, for us to be tested in this way. We physically got beaten by a quality football team (Carolina). You can dwell on the negatives or you can do something about it and roll your fist up and play a hell of a lot better.
