en Since I'm covering the tight end a lot, I wanted to talk to him about what tight ends are thinking.

en I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end.

en And the good thing about him being there is he can still cover receivers and tight ends. Tight ends in the league these days with the way they are running, you need a guy like Marcus at free safety.

en You see a lot of great tight ends come out of here because we use the tight end a lot. I think you can look for the same this year, especially with Greg. Big, strong, fast and athletic tight end. Definitely going to be a great target for me, especially when I get in trouble.

en It's not what we want, our top two tight ends to be restricted a little bit. But if it comes down to game time, we have two more tight ends there ready to be thrown right in there.

en We've still got four tight ends in the rotation. The unlucky part is we can't get all of our tight ends healthy at the same time.

en Our attitude with tight ends here is the more the merrier. I don't know if we'll get to four tight ends, but we certainly wouldn't be averse to having three in there.

en For the first time since I've been here, I was seeing a few double teams, ... That's going to help the offense, having two guys covering me instead of the defense saying, 'Don't worry about the tight end.' They've got to start game-planning more than what they had to do in the past as far as the tight-end position.

en He is explosive. He can really run and he covers a lot of ground. You see when he gets matched up covering people, like tight ends and running backs, he does a very good job.

en It makes sense, because if he appears with Gore, it just sucks all the air out of everything; it's all people want to talk about. . . . Gore is in a tight, tight, tight race, and he's got to make his case himself.

en I guess you don't really look at him as a tight end; you look at him as a receiver, .. A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. . Because they move him around, they bring him out(side). The routes they run with him are not always what tight ends run.

en You look at the tight ends we had out here practicing. We had four guys who have never taken a snap, and I promise you we're going to be pretty good at tight end.

en From then on, pretty much every day I would work with Chris Turner, the tight ends coach. Now I am strictly a tight end. I got my hand in the dirt.

en I think it more developed because we were able to get two tight ends that we coveted highly. We just got very, very youthful at tight end.

en It's a lot different than last year. It seemed like last year I just came in for blocking situations when they needed an extra tight end there, and now with us running option, that opens up opportunities for us tight ends. So every opportunity we get, we're going to try to take advantage of that.
