Our pitch selection in either game was not the best. We chased a lot of balls out of the zone. You have to do a better job at the plate in hitter?s counts, and we were out there fishing today.

Maybe it was control in the strike zone today, ... I left a lot of balls over the plate and they did what you are supposed to do with balls over the plate. I didn't execute the pitches the way I needed to, and they didn't let me off the hook.

Nobody will get a pitch past her. Her pitch selection is important. She knows she can't be an anxious hitter. She can be patient because she can catch up to any pitch.

The 2-0 pitch to Guerrero I'd like back. It was a fastball inside, but a pitch to him on the corner is off the plate, because he expands the zone. The pitch I wanted to get in a little further than that. Even if he made an out there, I wanted to ball in a little bit further. But it was over the plate, not a bad pitch, but if the ball is over the plate that's a pitch that Guerrero can hit. I'd take that one back if I could.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

I'm just going to stay within my strike zone. I can be just as valuable getting on base with my walks and running up pitch counts. I'll stay selective. I feel good at the plate, and I'll keep hitting the ball hard.

We got down so quick, double digits it certainly doesn't make for a lot of enthusiasm when you are up there trying to battle. He (Estes) got his pitches up and his balls were running off the plate a little bit. Their guy threw a lot of cutters today. that was his pitch today.

I'm not sitting here suggesting that guys don't get hits on an 0-2 or a 1-2 pitch ... but ordinarily, on 0-2, you don't see balls get hammered. That pitch to Andruw Jones was just [a] failure to get it in enough. It was just over the plate too much, ... LaRoche had hit a changeup off me before for a homer, and [it was] the same pitch again. Other than that, I felt good with pitch selection. They were just finding the holes and putting constant pressure on us.

He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch.

Ashley is going to be a fantastic hitter. She has great plate discipline and a great knowledge of the strike zone. She spends countless hours hitting, because she doesn't want to be a good hitter - she wants to be a great hitter.

We let him off the hook. He didn't have good command of the strike zone, and we needed to be more disciplined. We chased a lot of balls out of the strike zone.

He was around the plate, curve ball was working good ... kept them off. He had one bad pitch I can think off — the home run. It was a bad pitch against a great hitter.
